How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

WiFi was bad, kept dropping out and TV was not able to connect so unable to watch anything.

Great location, right in the centre. Parking on the streets was ok, just had to find a space. A spacious apartment and ideal as a base for exploring Reykjavik.

Needed an extra pillow (one pillow on all beds) and blind didn't work well or where missing
Brilliant base in the centre of Reykjavik! Lovely spacious apartment with everything you need for a trip! Beds were really comfy which is always a bonus!

There is one shower that the drain was clogged and it was overflowing when anyone showered.
The penthouse was so comfortable for 7 people, the views of the church, the sea, the mountains was brilliant! Very spacious very well equipped and lovely and warm when it was minus outside.

Property is becoming a little tired and could do with a bit of general maintenance and a refresh
Location is amazing, facilities in the apartment are great, nice and comfortable and perfect base to go from. We’re able to park outside at the end of each day

Showers are TINY and stinks horribly of sulfur. The window in the room that had a bathroom, the lock is broken so it banged all night from the wind. Parking IS NOT FREE.
Very spacious room! Easy check in, amazing amazing location!!!! CANNOT STRESS HOW GREAT THIS LOCATION IS. Had kitchen and all other amenities you need. TV, sofa and window nooks, also dining table. Had everything!! We had a lot of cozy days here. Loved it.

The only complaint was the mildew smell in the on suite bathroom. Even by keeping the window cracked we couldn't remove the smell. Otherwise there was nothing else wrong!
Great location near center city. We able to walk to all our designations or find a bus stop nearby. The apartment was just the right size and the wifi worked perfect. It was great to be able to rest for a while before heading back out. Just the perfect fit for our extended family.

The only thing we felt it needed was mirrors in the bedrooms.
Excellent location. Easy check in/out. 5 adults coped very well. Fully equipped kitchen.

I felt the property needs to be decorated and updated. Windows quite shabby and require painting - en-suite bathroom door would not close properly- blinds in the lounge area need some attention.
The property was very modern and well equipped - beds were comfortable with lovely clean sheets - towels were nice and fluffy- good equipment in the kitchen with a large fridge freezer and dishwasher

Stairs to go to unit. Hard to do with luggage. It would be nice to have a ramp.

The bedrooms were a little small and no place to really set up our luggage. It was the only place we stayed with a kitchen that did not have paper towels. We sent a message to check if there might be some around and it went unanswered (It wasn't that urgent so I did not try to call them directly).
The location is great. Very close to Rainbow street and Hallgrímskirkja. The harbor area is also close by. A number of restaurants are within walking distance. The instructions for picking up the key came a few days in advance so that process was easy. We had the "luxury" apartment which was on the 2nd floor (up 1 flight of stairs). Parking was relatively easy with both P2 and P3 parking nearby which was free overnight.

Host took a little while to respond to requests and questions. After I was checked in, the host did not really reply to any questions. Slightly hard to find the entrance to property.
Location was really good. Close to downtown areas, but still quiet to get rest when you need it. Parking was easy to find and affordable. Room was spacious and clean.
