Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. As it’s tour organisers network, might be busy with buses and big groups which leave early
Easy check in/out, no key policy is cool, rooms are comfortable even with 4 beds. Cozy little town (check the church)

A bit overpriced for the structure of the building.
Really nice hotel in a cute little village. The room was comfortable and the restaurant food acceptable. Comfortable bed.

We had to cancle the last night of our reservation becasue of change of plans and the hotel staff was very nice about it!! They returned our money back when they really didn't have to and really helped us. They have great service.

Better coffee at breakfast please. The annex building we were in has slightly thin walls, though this wasn't a problem for us.
A attractive and informal stop-off on the picturesque south-coast road-trip route. A more intimate style than some standard tourist hotels. Decent breakfast and acceptable supper. The Reception staff gave us a brilliant recommendation for a self-guided hike, up beside a spectacular 'hidden' canyon. The room was comfortable, quiet and with lovely views of the craggy mountainside.

Our room was facing the car park so we had the occasional noise from people driving in and out, and they can see directly into our room.
Room was well sized, the breakfast had a great spread and location is good if you're ending or starting your day near the Skaftafell National Park. It's very windy though as the area is exposed on the southern coast, so be prepared. Nothing much in the area except for other guesthouses and the cute church Hofskirkja, but it's usually a rest stop so not an issue. Great restaurant for dinner too!

Diner at the restaurant was a bit expensive. The walls in the main building where our room was are not soundproof

Rooms maybe a bit small. Luckily the heater was working fine. A bit cumbersome if you have 2 suitcases.
Love the breakfast spread provided. Booked the hotel due to its close location to Jokulsarlon & Diamond Beach. Love the room. The surrounding of the hotel is pleasant. Near another tourist spot, the Hofskirkja, the turfed church.

Charger by bed was not easily accessible (behind bed, needed to pull bed away from wall to use) Breakfast was disappointing - oatmeal & pancakes were cold, I was the first one there
Great location - options are limited and expensive in this area, the price was reasonable for a basic, but very comfortable room. Staff was helpful and friendly.

The price was not high and you get what you pay for. The beds were not super comfortable and the pillows and comforters were a bit too thin for my taste. Not an A+ but I would definitely stay again at Hof.
Great location and pretty good breakfast. The staff was nice enough but I did not have much interaction with them.

The room could be well planned the bathroom shower gel was by the wash basin and every time you need soap while taking a shower to need to run back to the basin, no plugs by the bed side they at the bottom. The breakfast can have more choice.

I would definitely stay here again! I traveled with my mom and the room was perfect for two people. Would recommend staying here if you plan on being in the Skaftafell area. Dinner was convenient and good for the area we were in.

Very friendly receptionist, good breakfast. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which we enjoyed. Good location for trips to Diamond Beach, glacier outlets and glacier lakes.

The room could have had better acoustic insulation, so maybe not the best choice for those who go to sleep earlier etc.
