Staff availability was lacking; no one was present at the reception during my check-in at 20:50 or check-out at 09:15. While not essential, it felt odd. Reception should have been open. The only staff member I encountered was at breakfast, but interaction was minimal, barely managing a muttered 'good morning.' In the hospitality industry, one expects more engagement than staff absorbed in their phones at a table.

It's about a 1 1/2 mile (2km) walk to restaurant row in Reykjavik. You'll pass a couple others that are closer, but I didn't check them out. Also about 2 miles from the FlyBus terminal (tour buses start and end there too, but they'll drop you off at the Hotel Island). Hotels in Europe seem to all have quilt covers instead of separate sheet + blanket. I found the quilt too warm.

Nice clean and recently renovated property. But the best thing was the *amazing* buffet breakfasts (included in the stay). Lots of choices, let's just say I over-indulged in the smoked salmon. Jams, pickled herring, other toppings, variety of breads (with a toaster of course), OJ and apple juice, fruit, tomatoes (locally grown, I think), rolls. Great coffee machine (except how do you adjust the strength? looks like it's possible, but I couldn't get it to work). If you're going on tours (which you should, unless you have a car), I think the nearest pickup place is the Hotel Island, less than a quarter mile away. Ask the concierge to point it out (or just look on your phone's map).

I don’t think I could name anything. I wish I could think of at least one thing, but I really can’t think of anything that would have improved our stay. Hotel Lotus will be recommended to anyone we know going to Iceland. You made our stay wonderful! Thank you! We hope to come and stay again!!!

We LOVED chatting with Julia at breakfast! The breakfast spread was very good as well! The coffee was wonderful too! Then there is our room…WOW! It was so large! We felt like we had enough space to be as comfortable as home! The heated floors and the heated towel rack was absolutely wonderful!!! Our bathing suits were dry when we packed them to leave! That was really great because we won’t use them on the rest of our trip! The bed was very comfortable too! I brought my own hello because I don’t usually like the ones in a hotel, but I didn’t even need to pull it out of my suitcase. Your pillows were lovely. We like that we had a choice between two different kinds. It feels as if you thought of everything!

Comfortable rooms, very clean, great breakfast and lovely helpful staff. Entry was easy and we received the codes for entry in good time via booking.com. Lots of easily accessible parking and nice supermarket just over the road.

Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We booked the room for my parents in law 70th birthday and we wanted to arrange something nice for them when they arrived. The hotel kindly offered sparkling wine, as well as passing on flowers and candies from us, beautifully arranged inside the room.

Lovely new hotel, rooms with great nordic design. Breakfast was excellent and the owner kindly offered to print out some documents ahead of my flight. Overall, highly recommended.

Room was spotless with spacious bathroom. The little balcony was a nice touch. Staff weren't always available on the reception desk, but we could ring the bell to call them. The code for the room only works after 2PM on the check-in day, but we arrived early and there was a cleaner who kindly opened the door for us. Breakfast was good, would be better if the menu change every few days. Not all the tours could pick up/drop off to this hotel, however it's just few minutes walk from other pick up spots.

I was happy with everything.

Unexpectedly, due to a snowstorm, the road was closed to Selfoss where we were staying and we had to find accommodation. We looked at the hotels on Bookings and chose this one. We were given, what I believe, was a premium room with separate lounge area from the bedroom. The bathroom was large with a good shower. All very modern, which I like. Breakfast was good.
