How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewExtremely friendly and flexible host with such a beautiful environment! I appreciate everything Loredana did for us. Self-cooking and dining outdoors at the facility garden overlooking Montepulciano from afar was something I would remember for life! It is almost like in a fiction book ... perhaps for a city dweller
Bed was making a cracking sound. Although not too loud, it was enough to make me feel as if there was someone else next door, which there wasn't. There were lots of flies and mosquitos, but it was in summer, so nothing the owner can control.

Verified reviewVilla Mazzi asbolutely exceeded my expectations. Loredana was a very kind host and made us feel very welcome. The views were outstanding and we loved having our own private patio to admire them from. The flowers and trees all around the property were lovely too & the lounge chairs for all guests were also perfect for getting cozy with a great book. We stayed in the Cedar room. The room itself gave us a lot of space to spread out. The kitchen was very new and modern. The shower worked very well. And only a 3 minute drive to Montepulciano. Would love to stay here again!
Nothing - everything was great.

Verified reviewMy husband and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 3 nights (the one with the red couch). It is perfectly located 5 min from Montepulciano and 10 min from Pienza. The space was exceptional - full kitchen and sitting area, spacious bathroom, bedroom. It is obvious that the owners took time and care to pay great attention to the details. Each room is beautifully decorated with great taste. We had plenty of room to spread out and really enjoy our stay. Using the apartment as a base, every day we drove off to explore the Tuscan region - within range of Cortona, Orvieto, Montalcino, Lucca, Montepulciano, Pienza .... Each night we were back and enjoyed picnic foods for dinner at the table and chairs outside with the most fabulous sunset view of Montepulciano. Everything in the apartment worked great - refrigerator, shower, windows, wifi, etc. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is well outfitted and we cooked pasta one of the evenings. Highly, highly, highly recommend this property. (Photos show our view sitting at the table and chairs for picnic dinner.)
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewLoredana is an amazing host, helped us with everything we needed. The property is beautiful and has at a great location, very close to Montepulciano and Pienza.
There are no bug nets in the windows so you can't keep the windows open for too long and ventilate the apartment.

Verified reviewThe view from the room was absolutely breathtaking. It overlooked the rolling hills and lush greenery, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Loredana, the host, took great pride in keeping her place immaculate. Her warm and accommodating nature made the stay even more enjoyable. The room itself was thoughtfully appointed with all the amenities one could need and was impeccably clean, giving it a feeling of comfort and luxury.
The shower kept fluctuating between hot and cold, but that's not her fault. She must adhere to Italian inspections, so there's nothing she can do about it.

Verified reviewVilla Mazzi is stunning and we only wished we could have longer! Our apartment was gorgeous and well equipped, and we were very comfortable during our stay. Loredana and Martina are exceptional hosts - so warm, friendly, welcoming and helpful, and they made excellent recommendations to us. There is a pecorino farm just down the road that we walked to, where we had the most beautiful gourmet picnic. It provides everything you need. Villa Mazzi was the perfect base for touring around Val d’Orcia, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We loved returning to our apartment after a day of exploring. We highly recommend it to anyone and we hope to return someday!

Verified reviewLoredana the owner is really welcoming and gave some great tips on the local area, and where to eat in Montepulciano as well. You are a 5 minute drive from Montepulciano, car is necessary here. We stayed in one of the apartments, well equipped with everything you could need. The apartment was spotless, quiet and had Aircon if required. The view from the shared garden over Montepulciano is worth the stay alone, we wiish we could have stayed longer!
