Shower in my room was tiny but did the job.

Location in a already great town, views, and very good restaurant and private beach facility. A Real Sicilian experience not a foreign tourist hotspot.

    Nothing

Excellent location Very organized You choose your location on the private beach. Your beach umbrella and lounge chairs are assigned the same number of your room for your stay. Beach service for drinks and food. Free paddling boats and other water sports are included in the price. The restaurant food was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay!!!!!!

Great breakfast selection-Italian style, gorgeous view and right on the beach, attentive lifeguards, sheltered bay for paddling and shallow dipping works well.

Restaurant staff seemed bored with life. To be fair they always greeted us on arrival but not much else. When we enquired about eating in the restaurant one evening we received what we felt to be a dismissive response. Although open to the public in the evenings, it always seemed empty. Not a criticism, but not a lot of English is spoken in this area. We didn't find the shopping experience very rewarding. Plenty of places to eat if you like pasta or don't mind paying the high prices in the fish restaurants.

Reception staff were invariably courteous and helpful and certain ones very friendly and welcoming. The room was great especially with the sea view. Loved the lift to the beach. The lifeguards were vigilant and eager to assist. Great beach especially for little children.

Only criticism is parts of the hotel could do with a revamp. However, it was not dirty nor did it spoil my stay. Were it possible, I would move my mark to 9.4 or 9.5

Superb location, friendly helpful staff, quiet air conditioning that worked, excellent beach

The Internet connection was the worst ever. Also, it was a bit loud because the hotel is next to the quite busy street.

The room was very nicely decorated.

Cons : rooms haven't been updated for a long time, shower is tiny, A/C is noisy, don't leave food in the room, you will get ants, don't go to the hotel restaurant !

pros : Location is amazing, so close to the beach and right in the city, Nice staff, ok Wi-Fi, rooms are well equipped (towel rack, lot of storage, nice size, fridge, extra pillows/blanket), good price

like much of the area surrounding Etna, there was a lot of plastic waste washed up in parts of the harbour and in the sea. The beach staff cleared the sand daily, but plastic waste did wash in from the Med. Sicily generally might do more to address this issue

Interesting town with a working harbour. staff at hotel friendly and helpful, very good wifi, and a computer for visitor use. Very much a Sicilian holiday area which we really liked, stunning beaches and hotel on the beach with rental accommodation as well as hotel rooms

The bed was hard and it seemed like you were going to roll off. But I did manage to sleep ok.

The staff was great very helpful . There was a good breakfast. Small balcony with a terrific view of the sea. Nice restaurants in the area it's getting close to the end of the season so many will be closed by November.

Perfect location right on the beach. Staff could not have been friendlier. We were delighted that other guests were mainly Italian so you feel you've discovered a place the wider world doesn't know about yet.

Room vert small with smallest shower I have ever seen in a hotel. View of the sea was partial and overlooking another room. Some of the rooms available I were very nice, ours clearly was not

too far from Syracus, poor motorway , traffic and bad roads (consequence : lost of time to reach tourism sites), broken bed in the second room proposed with balcon

the proximity of the sea, the hospitality of the staff, the restaurant (but a bit expensive)

    All excellent.

Liked everything about al Gabbiano. staff are superfriendly and helpful. Rooms spacious and bright with balcony overlooking the swimming bays, the port and the wonderful sunsets. Back door opens on to the beach. Hotel is only 2 mins walk from everything.

Slightly disappointed with the hotel menu, and shortage of vegetables. Those that did arrive, although roasted, were not very hot.

Quiet Sicilian fishing village (early October), beautiful hotel beach and sea water pools. Hotel one minute from main square and marina but right on beach. Clean and friendly, though limited English spoken, acting, mime and humour very good! Easy to organise local excursions with excellent taxi company - Morgan Rentacar. Very fast Broadband! Good value fish restaurants. Very useful snack (hot) bar - 'Made in Sud.'
