Getting to the hotel is very convoluted due to the restrict zone and one way traffic. The beds are terrible with springs jumping in your back and soft mattresses & pillows. Rooms and bathrooms very small. No arrangements for breakfast for early departure guests. I had to insist that they make us sandwiches since the breakfast was included in the price of the room which they then agreed to do. It is strange that a hotel in a city that has early Ferry departures do not have early breakfast arrangements..... The night staff is not very friendly and the key system for the garage is inconvenient. There is a drop off parking space in front of the hotel but they allow their friends to park there overnight at the inconvenience of their guests c/in & out of the hotel.... Definitely a management and staff problem that needs to be rectified especially the lack of English speaking staff....

Location is good but very difficult to get to

Nice small Boutique Hotel in Downtown Livorno. Clean and spacious room, conveniently located to the city center, everything is in distance. Staff was very helpful to organize eg. an evening boat tour. Parking is only possible in the near located Odeon Parking Garage, as the hotel itself is located in the limited traffic zone.

Business trip August 18 - Nice hotel and people

Parking is a little limited as it is in a controlled area due to being a very busy town location but this is not really a hotel fault, just something to be aware of (Be sure to ask at the hotel for a pass). Parking will be possible within 250m somewhere. If eating in the garden which is aesthetically lovely, have mosquito repellent at hand. Again, not a fault, just worth being prepared.

Lovely coffee and croissants but breakfast is a little limited, nevertheless the breakfast is fresh and the staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms and decor is classical in design and a great change from the contemporary chains. Really nice place and the WiFi worked well.

The gentleman at the front desk was amazingly nice and considerate - he speaks little English but his heart tells a great story. Due to delays on the ferry, we arrived late and hungry. The neighborhood restaurants were closed but he was able to find us some coffee cake and a couple of beers - it was all he could find and it never tasted better. Also, nice breakfast in a lovely garden.

Room was very small for 3 persons. We got a room at the road side. All night there was traffic and loud noises. Non of us slept much. Parking was a nightmare. Streets are completely full with cars. So had to park far away, although in their ad they say you can get a ticket and park. Staff unhelpfull. We asked for some coffee or some packed food for the early start next morning. None was their, so we left without. Would not recommend.

We booked this hotel for one night, in order to catch the ferry at 07:00 hrs from the town Livorno. The garden looked nice.

Small rooms. The bed must have been 180 cm long, as it was hard to fit in. The air-condition made a lot of noise, but didn't really cool at all. Finally, they charged for some extra breakfasts that we never had.

The rooms at Al Teatro differ hugely : we were given a completely different room from the one we had been promised and spent a very claustrophobic first night at this hotel. We would have had to leave had we not been given a different - much better - room the next day. We still didn't receive the room we'd asked for ( Paganini ) - and were billed for but the second night was nonetheless so much better in a room of "normal" size and with a Juliette balcony ( Puccini ).

Exquisite garden and lovely staff. Breakfast was basic but all items were good quality. The location is excellent near the iconic Theatre and walking distance to the "little Venice" area where good dinner options abound.

This is hardly a criticism of the hotel but getting back after a trip to beautiful Lucca. We kept going round in circles trying to find our road!

Although it was a bit of a trial finding the hotel and parking (you need a permit from the hotel) my husband and I soon realised we had found a real gem. We walked into a wonderful calm oasis after driving round hectic Livorno. There didn't seem to be many staff but all we came in contact with were friendly and helpful especially the 'mature' gentleman who appeared to be there 24/7 as we saw him last thing at night and first thing in the morning when he served us breakfast. Breakfast was in the small, serene garden and was perfectly adequate for our needs. Our room was clean and comfortable with good air con (for my husband). The hotel has some lovely pieces of artwork dotted around which adds to the quirkiness of the place and is only a short walk away from their 'Little Venice' which is buzzy and vibrant. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel even though it was a little difficult to find and parking was a slight issue.

Breakfast was a problem on the first morning which was a Sunday the hotel was busy there were only three tables set in the breakfast room and although it was warm enough to sit outside the tables were not set nor were the chairs clean. Also there were only two croissant left and not much choice of anything else. Things did improve and by our last day the tables and chairs in the garden were clean and set and there was more choice of food, but it should be like that every morning. Also you had to check out of your room by 10 o'clock but we were asked to pay the night before because there may not be any staff on to process our bill.

Al Teatro is a clean and comfortable hotel in a pleasant location. The room was fine with a small bathroom, but was spotlessly clean. It had a very pretty walled garden which was a real bonus.
