The room was dusty and cobwebs on the ceiling and floor under the tables, we were coughing everytime we are inside the room.

The staff was exceptional! The manager, Gaudete and the kitchen staff, Arada!

Roof balcony was closed in ( no view) but we think that was because it was third floor and high up.

Cute place with great local restaurant at the front- very good food. 3rd floor room was atticy but very well appointed, comfortable, and clean with everything needed. Beautiful location on a piazza with deli and churches. History everywhere, loved it.

Although no lake view, the staff more than makes up for it. In particular, kudos to the lady at breakfast. Thank you for giving us a great start to the day. Your smile and attentiveness every morning makes for a great day. Not to mention, breakfast was good too.

Insisting on 11 am check out, they need a proper luggage storage room. We just had to leave ours out in the open in the reception area.

Nice hotel right next to the church and few mins from Villa Monastero. We stayed in the ‘suite’ so had a nice view of Lago di Como. There is a restaurant downstairs so you have the option to eat there as well, which we made use of.

Its 10 mins walk away from the railway station of Varenna. Our room had a good view of the lake and there was a huge tv in the room (which we didn’t use 😄). Room was quite clean and quite spacious.

Location of this hotel is fantastic for a stay in Varenna. Authentic Italian style hotel. Rooms are quite basic but that didn't bother us. Very clean and offered to clean after one night but we declined. Breakfast is fine.

The bed was really two mattresses put together and a little hard. The left shutter on the window of our room (#5) would stay open so to see the view we had to hold it open. Neither a big deal. We had a great stay.

It was about a 12 minute walk from the train station. There were some stairs, cobblestone alleys and road. The location is great with easy access to everything. Breakfast was great and the hotel restaurant is open from 12 until. All of the staff was friendly and even made a reservation for us for dinner one night at a hard to get restaurant. Would recommend!

Room was very small…Wifi was ‘spotty’ ….if going to Varenna by train it’s difficult to get to this hotel. Winding road from train station and then 1 km hike up a hill to the hotel. Definitely not for mobility impaired if not travelling by car. Booking.com states ‘less than 100 metres from the Lake’ which is certainly not correct and should include that it is high above the lake and the ferry stop.

Comfortable bed, great breakfast and service from Rada. Very good Italian home cooked style meals.

The staff seemed too busy with the restaurant customers to care much about people checking in, the welcome could have been more attentive and personal. There's no door between the restaurant / reception area and the rooms on the 1st floor, and the sound of diners and staff carried up into the room, until everything shut around 23h.

A charming hotel (and very busy restaurant) with well-designed rooms on Varenna's main square, a 10-minute walk uphill from the trains and ferries - best reached along the main road (rather than the waterside path) if you're walking with luggage. Very close to the town parking garage and the two garden villas as well. Bags can be left at reception until check-in time, and there's an elevator. Breakfast was very good, with eggs on request, and lovely smiley staff.

the toulet is very outdated. some details are to be fixed, for example we were not able to open any of the 4 curtains since they’re broken. some details in the decor are left broken or not done. the breakfast is not bad but since they have their own restaurant they could propose more fresh stuff. overall we paid for the location and not the quality

To get to the Lake you have to negotiate very steep steps from the Square. Although we managed it, it would be very difficult for someone with limited mobility.

Central location was super. We had a view over the lake. The room was large and airy and cleaned every day. There was an easily accessible lift. Breakfast was cooked to our requirements the waitress was friendly and helpful.
