The only problem we found was the nearby La Scala "restaurant" who employed a man who thought he could sing, and confused volume with quality. If you can imagine a hoarse, drunk Rod Stewart impression, you get the idea. This happened every night until midnight, and as good as the double glazing and shutters are, they could not shut out the caterwauling. It is apparently legal, and the hotel was unable to do anything about it. We could not use the balcony in the evening, because we could not hear each other talking. The rooms at the rear of the hotel (without balconies) are quieter. In the UK, the local council would shut it down, but not there apparently. It seems so unfair that the hotel may lose business due to a noisy inconsiderate boor. They certainly don't deserve to. Take earplugs, and you will be ok

We loved the view, and the friendly staff. The building has character, and is ideally placed for the town. Lots of restaurants nearby - it pays to check with TripAdvisor.

Excellent location, right in the middle of the main area. Probably the best views of the main area and sea from roof top terraces. Great drinks and barman. Taormina accommodation is more expensive than other areas in Sicily but was pretty good value considering the area.

No air conditioning from the 1st October, temperature was in mid 30C in the day and it was very hot in the room. Also, breakfast choices were very poor, no choice at all really, same thing every day. Ham, cheese and cakes. For breakfast!

There were very few electrical outlets in my room. It was hard to charge a laptop, tablet and phone without plugging out the TV and bedside lamps. Because the electricity is powered off when you leave the room, it was not possible to charge devices during the day while visiting sites or restaurants.

The hotel offered a generous breakfast selection of meats, cheeses, cereals, eggs, breads and pastries. The coffee was good. The decor of the hotel itself is very dated. My room was large and clean, but the furnishings were very dated.

The hotel is a litle dated, and the breakfast could have had a few more choices.

The location was 10 out of 10. Nice staff, big clean room with cofortable bed. We really enjoyed the lower entrance, which took us straight out in to the main street, and saved us from long walks around the block.

The way it was cancelled the day before

Booked 6 months ago and day before changed to another hotel that was filthy. Rang Vello de oro and complained. He came and picked us up and gave us a decent room in the end. I think I booked at a cheaper price and they got more so cancelled mine. Don’t stay in Eliot’s Hotel

Tea/coffee facilities in the room would have been nice and also there was no fridge. The other minor problem was the restaurant situated below our room played live music until midnight, ok for us but not so good if you were someone who went to bed early

The one feature of the room that I really did not like was the tiny shower. The sink seemed wider than the shower pan. It was so small that the shower curtain would cling to you and there was no shower head , just a hose so the water would splash everywhere if it hit the shower wall. We only stayed for two nights so we dealt with it. We had to lay down a lot of towels on the floor. I don't know if it was just our room or our floor that has these showers. I would stay here again if they have rooms with bigger shower facilities.

I really love the location of this hotel. It's just an elevator ride and a few steps from the main street through Taormina. Lots of shops and restaurants and beautiful views. The room itself was probably the smallest room we stayed in during our two week trip. It was simply furnished and we had a great view off of our little balcony. The hotel regulates the AC so it would turn off at 1:30am til 6am. Around 4 am it would get stuffy so we would open the windows in the room and bath and that was fine. There was a bar on the 5th floor with large terraces to enjoy to view of the town. It opened around 4pm while we were there. At night, the music from the restaurants and the plaza below could be heard even with windows shut, but that didn't bother us at all. It was nice. The front desk always seemed to be staffed, which I found helpful for random questions as we were coming in and out of the hotel. We mostly stayed at guest houses during our trip, which were only staffed for a few hours of the day so this was a welcome feature. Our stay included breakfast with some nice selections.

The room did not have a mini bar. There was also minimal parking at the location, so we had to drive to a parking lot and pay $24 euro per day.

Love love LOVED our view from our balcony. Real standout! There were plenty of choices at breakfast, and the staff even offered to make us cappuccino, further to the black coffee that was available.
