How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewA small flat just in the center of the city. It has everything what is needed. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the bar 2 min from the flat. Nice and useful host, friendly person. PS. It is not that I didn't like it, I just tlhink it may be useful for some people to know beforehand - there is just a fixed upper rain shower, without .moving shower head.

Verified reviewThe location of the apartment was great. We received a lovely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for Michele. The apartment, although tiny, had a well equipped kitchen for self-catering. The shower/hot water was good, and the bed was comfortable..
The apartment was advertised as having a washing machine and tumble dryer. We especially chose this apartment for this reason. Upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed to find that neither appliance was in the apartment. The room price included breakfast (which was at a local cafe/bar). It was the smallest and most disappointing breakfast in Europe so far on our trip. (Very small - 1x glass juice, 1x coffee, 1x water and either, 1x croissant or 1x toasted sandwich). Hopefully, these issues can be corrected. It would be brilliant then.
Mr. Ngaire, I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay and your vacation. I am forced to point out that the size of the apartment is specified in Booking and perhaps you do not remember that we performed the laundry service completely free and included in the reservation. The breakfasts as explained, include a toast, a brioche, a coffee, a cappuccino, a juice, water and a can and are typical Italian breakfasts. Located in the charming historic part of the city, it has been recently renovated, making it not only beautiful but also practical and efficiently designed. Every detail is thoughtfully considered – from the elegant interior of the apartment to the stylish entrance hallway. The apartment has everything one could need, including a small yet fully equipped kitchenette. A great bonus is the keyless entry via code, which is extremely convenient. But what truly made our stay exceptional was our host, Michele. Michele is an absolute professional with a big heart. Not only did he arrange free parking near the city center, but he also helped us carry our luggage all the way to the apartment. He was always willing to give advice, recommending fantastic restaurants and must-visit places. If there were a world competition for the best host, Michele would undoubtedly take the crown! Thanks to him and this wonderful accommodation, our expectations were not just met—they were far exceeded. We already know that we will want to return. Thank you, Michele! 🌟

Verified reviewThe living space was very cozy and nice, the host was incredibly nice and helpful. The apartment was quite close to the main street, all sorts of cafes, pizzerias. A grocery store was also very close. The host provided us with bikes, free breakfasts.

Verified reviewPerfect location in the heart of old town Chioggia. Small but nicely compact appartment with all needed facilities. Breakfast was good with brioche and capuccino, and excellently there was bikes available, that was super good!

Verified reviewVery clean, pleasantly decorated apartment in a central location. Good sound insulation. It felt like one of those demonstration mini-homes they have in IKEA showrooms - amazing how much they can fit in a tiny space! Very secure parking. All facilities were quite new and worked well. Lovely town.
It is really tiny! The sleeping area is separated from the living area by a wall - presumably so they can call it a 1 bedroom apartment - but this makes it feel even more cramped. Also, the breakfast was very plain, one pastry, coffee, juice and water. My spouse is gluten free and the only option for him was a small pre-packaged biscuit.

The apartment wasn’t too big but contained everything needed for guests, was beautifully decorated and very clean. Big advantage was the availability of bicycles at the facility. Collecting me from the bus stop, explaining everything in the apartment and setting up the links on my ‘phone for places of interest and where to eat. The independence of being in an apartment but including a breakfast in a nearby bar with friendly staff was a bonus, being able to immerse in the local surroundings.
The weather! But, after all, it was February and it didn’t deter the locals!
