We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. MaltaThe pictures on Booking.com showed a place that was completely different from the one we actually ended up in. Check in was an hour later than promised with no reimbursement or alternative whatsoever was provided. The room, apart from being too small for 3 adults and a child, was old. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Linen could definitely do with a replacement. No soap in bathroom, one toilet paper roll for four people. Place is dimly lit and the entrance to the block is scary.
The breakfast provided was not at the apartment, but had to walk to the nearest McDonald’s.

North MacedoniaThe rooms were small, the extra beds had very thin and uncomfortable mattresses, the bedding was not clean. The bathrooms were not updated, the bathroom sink was stuck. The facility needs renovating, it was very outdated. Breakfast was very poor, it only offered croissant and coffee.

PortugalOur room was occupied so We were upgraded to an apartment but it was a 7 minute walk away from the advertised location, further from the center and on a noisy street. They said we had a kitchen but when we went to use it it was locked with a padlock and they said we would have to pay an extra €10 to use it. There was no control for the air conditioning and after insisting several times they turned on the heating remotely only at midnight and for about 1 hour. Very cold at night. Towels with holes, dirty sheets and damaged equipment. Not complying with location, photos and amenities described. breakfast at a cafe 10 minutes from the accommodation. After a complaint, they asked for an iban for a possible refund, fictitious of course. Reported to booking with no response so far.

What I liked? The city. But let me tell you what I didn't like. One of the worst experience I ever had in Italy. Sadly, in the beautiful city Lecce. First, one day before my arriving they called me and ask about my credit card. To send them a photo!!! I use booking 30-40 times in an year, never happend to me. Maybe they weren't sure to get to them, being romanian. Second, they said the apartment had a problem, so they proposed another one, 200 m far. In fact it was 500 m far, in the middle of nowhere. Third, I was supposed to get the ticket for breakfast, which I didn't get, so I wrote to them. Finally someone came and give it to me. So unprofessional.

PolandWell I have to be honest, I haven’t even been in Cetral Plaza. One of the personel member send me a whatup message with „correct address”. When I arrived on the location I could find Central Plaza hotel. Instead of that they showed me „Four Seasons” at the same city but 500m from the Central Plaza. I was disappointed when We opened the room, but it was already late and we traveled hole day. They add option „breakfast” with is also a scam in my opinion. They gave us „Vouchers” so we can go and take something from McDonald for breakfast or one of the cafe (700m from hotel) it was one hot drink and one croissant (not like on the pictures). Of course there was no information over those things before we arrived. I was lucky that I spend there only 2 night. I don’t want to mention about stuff like towels etc. With looks like a really old one never changed or that the TV was no working… I know I didn’t booked 5 star hotel. But anyway make it clean. That’s all I want.

Czech RepublicUnfortunately a big disappointment. Accommodation does not correspond to the photos and description. The equipment is old and non-functional. Hangers, bed linen and towels are sewn. Beds are crawling. We had a Superior room, right after arrival we changed the room because of the bunk beds (we have small children), the other room was a little better, but it was cold and at night there was noise. The only plus point of this accommodation was the centre around the corner and the helpful staff

HungaryThe pictures of the hotel do not match reality. The bed and mattress were old and uncomfortable, and the quality was poor. The towels and bedding were not clean, which was very disappointing. It was also quite difficult to find the hotel, as the location shown on the map is completely inaccurate. That said, the actual location is very good once you find it. Breakfast was supposed to be provided at a different location, but when we arrived, that place was closed which was frustrating and unexpected.
