Location is perfect for outings in all directions. Spacious apartments, grounds are well kept. Amazing views all around. The fact that you can take long walks (4/5 km) on their own property is a plus for those that want to continue to run / walk a little bit. We saw deer, hare, and lots of lizzards :). Pool was still closed but the water would have been too cold anyway. Their restaurant tips are great too, 3 case was amazing! Don’t forget to take a stroll along the family friendly Elsa river at Colle de Val d’Elsa. Short drive away as well

Since the property is located in the middle of greenery there are a lot of bugs around which is expected. The only point I would mention is that maybe the mosquito nets in the property have their edges sealed since bugs occasionally made their way in from there.

The apartment was clean, decently equipped and quiet. We were there in October so we needed to use the heating a little bit. One would wonder how the middle of summer would be since there didn’t seem to be any air conditioners. Communication with the property was excellent. The grounds were also pleasant for a walk around and the scenery was fantastic. We had a rental car so it was easy to visit sites like San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, Pisa and Florence. For Florence we drove to Certaldo train station and took the train from there since it was easier and calmer than driving into Florence.

We experienced some cold weather and the apartment was chilly.

The location was spectacular - close to Volterra and San Gimignano. We appreciated great communication and support for our late arrival. The apartment was comfortable and clean with a lovely view.

Upon arrival there was no one at the reception. Before arrival I was contacted via whatsapp with a picture on how we could find our room. It took a while to find it. Everything else was perfect.

Very calm location with a beautiful view. Central location to visit different cities. The staff is friendly, on departure they even gave us a small gift. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice hotel in Tuscany.

Too many persons for the pool, therefore not enough lying beds for everyone. Mainly families with small children, so extremely noisy. The accomodation is decorated to its minimum, with mainly spot lights in all of the rooms.

Nice large unheated swimming pool. Property has a very large walking area and is well located to make city trips. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

There is no washing machine in the apartment but there is a central laundry that you can pay to use. There is no toaster (so Aussies - Vegemite toast is off the menu) and no microwave but there is a good size fridge and stove with oven. There is no air conditioning, but we were very comfortable none the less and had good weather while we were there. The beautiful pool is not heated so expect chilly dips!

The location is in the Tuscan area in beautiful old stone house/s. We had sweeping views of the country and lovely green space to relax with a wine. The location is quiet and peaceful. Our apartment had a good size kitchen and comfortable beds and lounging area. It was a great location to base ourselves and go off for day trips around the country side, visit wineries and to see other villages and attractions -you definitely need a car if you want to make the most of it. We stayed for 4 nights and I could have stayed longer!

We loved everything.

The place was so enjoyable we extended our stay by a few more days. We loved the quietness and the view overlooking the valley. Many ducks, rabbits and dears were spotted near the pond on the property.

Beautiful Tuscan buildings with fantastic grounds and views over Tuscany. It is in a great location. San Gimignano about a 15 min drive. Kitchen is stocked with relatively basic equipment but enough to get by. Dim lighting in the house (Il Forno) but partially expected in such an old villa. Pool wasn’t open when we were there (15-25 April) Overall a fantastic trip and a real feel of rural Tuscany. Highly recommend

There's nothing not to like. You'd have to be pretty unhappy in life to not enjoy a stay at Borgo Il Castagno.

Amazing place. Perfectly located to travel around Tuscany and enjoy the delights.
