We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. AustriaThe apartment is not managed by a private person, but by a company named Goelba. We were asked to go to the office twice - to supposedly pick up the keys (which was completely unnecessary as there is a code for a key box at the apartment) and to bring back our garbage before checkout. We were also asked to take the bed sheets and towels from the office to the apartment by ourselves (which eventually was carried out by a staff member after a brief discussion). My emails before arrival were not answered.
The apartment is nicely furnished with a very beautiful view on the harbour.

AustraliaWe did not feel very welcomed. There was not so much as a tea-bag in the kitchen! It’s nice to have cutlery and crockery, but given the location, most people will be arriving on foot and, like us, don’t travel with food basics. We would normally self-cater at least some of the time, but cooking wasn’t an option here, despite a reasonably well equipped kitchen. Surely it’s not too difficult to provide tea, coffee etc. Also, paying extra for linen and towels is a rip-off, and the cleaning fee adds insult to injury given that we didn’t even boil the kettle! Information about things to do and see would have been useful, as would train, bus and ferry timetables.
The view from the balcony was wonderful. The rooms were spacious.

United StatesNo Wi-Fi. There were networks all around us, but for some reason the owner doesn't have a router. Fortunately, the cell service in Portoferraio is excellent, so we were able to use our own data for the days we were there.
We. Loved. This. Apartment. Stunning views, old town charm, well appointed kitchen, excellent customer service. If this property went on the market for sale, I'd buy it and move to Portoferraio! We were completely enchanted by the wonderful terrace, the charming decor, and the great location. I had read a few negative things in earlier reviews, and all of them had been resolved by the owner. The host, Carola, is a gem; she met us after hours to let us in, and gave us tons of local insider information that we really appreciated. She was available throughout out stay through WhatsApp. I can't wait to return to Blu in Green!
