Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The bed linen needs to be updated immediately - I’m sure it’s freshly washed but everything was so worn out that it gives you the feeling that you sleep in some trashy hostel. Also, there was some dust on the furniture and the pillows in the wardrobe didn’t have pillow cases on them so they were practically useless.
Nice location in the historic center of Venice. The communication with the staff was easy and efficient. There are complimentary bottles of water in the mini fridge. Overall, good value for money.

Small and steep stairs to get to the room, but I guess it is expected in a Venice hotel! Bed was a bit hard, but the room was overall good.
Great location in the middle of Venice, close to all landmarks. Staff was super helpful and kind, allowing storage of luggage after check out.

Could hear other guests talking on phones, like they were sitting beside me. Could hear both sides of conversation!! Bathroom needs updating, mildew and mild visible around tub/shower.
Loved the location!!! Easy to get to from the train station. Bed was comfortable.

The room door locking system is temperamental as another guest found whilst we were there. Locked out of their room and no staff answering any phones. Resolved eventually but only after several hours.
Friendly and helpful staff, check-in access after midnight on arrival was smooth despite no reception staff, location in alley is deceptive; the hotel is a good and comfortable 3 star. Being quite central, location was excellent for all sites within about 15/20 minutes regardless of direction.

We were on the 4th floor. A small elevator took our luggage up to the 3rd floor but we had to take the stairs. Not one TV station in English.
Staff went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast service opened a half hour earlier for us because we had an early tour. Nice breakfast selections and very reasonable.

The safety box of our room was broken and there was no other option.

We didn’t have lift available to carry on our large luggage to the 4th floor. The breakfast was ok, could have more variety. We didn’t see any fruit for example and the staff didn’t even ask us if we would like scrambled or fry eggs.
The room was big and comfortable. The location is also good close to nice restaurants and around 20min walking to Marco Square.

Breakfast was ok but looked a bit on the cheap side, and the entrance to the hotel could be smarter.
The location was amazing, the staff were warm ,friendly and extremely helpful, signage from the street to the hotel is up high so keep an eye out,

It’s a tiny tiny room so luggage storage is a problem esp if you’ve been away for awhile and have a suitcase small overnight bags would be ok..
This property is very well located and the staff were very friendly and helpful .New aircon in the room so it was cool (although slightly noisy at night) It’s a very old property so has its challenges Lift for luggage was appreciated.Room was cleaned and made up everyday. It’s ok if you don’t intend spending any time but sleeping in the room. Nice restaurants and a bar in San Toma square which is very close by and not very touristy

Property was well located, very clean and comfortable. The team led by Irene were exceptional, especially when one of the party developed food poisoning. They could not have been more helpful. Their local knowledge was also very helpful.
