My cave was huge, well laid out and provisioned. Simona was so very kind and caring and nothing was a bother for her. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and looked forward to getting back to such a special place after walking the Sassi all day.

It was my second time in Matera and this time I really wanted to stay inside a cave. I was lucky to find Casa Ferri. For me it was perfect. The location is so good. I came to Matera with a bus and then walked about 25 minutes to reach the property - which is in such a perfect location in the Sassi di Matera. You can walk everywhere from here. The place was really clean and it gave me the cave experience that I wanted. Very spacious also. I loved waking up early morning, going outside and enjoying straight away the empty streets of the Sassi. Anna was very helpful and the check-in and check-out processes were very smooth. I highly recommend this place and I look forward to my next visit in Matera and hopefully staying here again.

Very large room in a cave! Very comfortable, good temperature. Large, comfortable bed and pillows. Charging points next to bed. Small fridge with water provided. Check in staff were super lovely! Gave us very good recommendations to eat at and what sights to see. Always available via Whatsapp. Breakfast was included. Definitely recommend!!

I was I little disappointed with tea / coffee making facilities. Not proper cups and saucers provided, no teaspoons, only wooden disposable sticks. Could improve on small things.

We enjoyed the experience of staying in a cave. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The location was good close to train station and bus. The accommodation is in the historical Sassi area, very close to main piazza. Overall nice place to stay for 2 nights.

As it’s a cave it did feel a little airless! The bathroom did not smell good - my only complaint. We parked in a nearby car park which was expensive but convenient.

Great property, the room was cleaned by staff daily and the towels replaced. The location is very central and the room was large and had all the amenities. Check-in was made very easy by the host who was friendly and gave use recommendations for food and sites in Matera.

- the base of the shower needs a little attention, but this looks like a fairly easy fix - because you’re right in the old town (which I highly recommend), the parking lot is about 300 metres away and about 20 euros, but pack light and the stroll is across the beautiful piazzas.

-c’mon….when do you get the chance to sleep in a cave? Learning about the people who lived, and still live here is humbling and the depth of history truly overwhelming - comfortable bed and nice dark sleep - proximity to town centre, cafes and restaurants - seamless communication with host - Grazie for a truly unique experience!

Casa Ferri is in a fantastic spot in the sassi to explore the city. It’s an experience to stay in a cave and it is renovated beautifully. Room comes with breakfast at local cafe and room service daily. Ana was a wonderful host who gave us tips and suggestions for dinner and touring. I’d definitely recommend to stay here.

Our stay started with the host meeting us in the piazza and showing us the room. She was super friendly and helpful and showed us where to go and what to see on our brief stay. The room itself is best described as a renovated cave with all the facilities. It was large, spacious and really comfortable while really unique. Location was supreme just off a large piazza in the old town amongst other cave dwellings and metres from cafes, restaurants and shops. Thoroughly recommend if visiting Matera.

Remember you are staying in a cave so limited natural sunlight. We stayed for 2 nights and I wouldn’t have wanted to stay for longer for this reason - but an amazing experience!

Perfect location, great price and really friendly staff. The room was clean and staying in a cave was a different experience. They have organised breakfast at a local cafe in the square.
