How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewGood location, had a hairdryer, kitchen with all supplies, nice host. In overall nice apartment.
The shower cabin really needs replacing, the doors not fully closing and the bottom of the shower probably had a crack and is now fixed with silicone, which makes it move. There was also small cockroaches in the bathroom and kitchen, we saw a few.

Verified reviewExcellent responsive owners, Vittorio & Francesca. Spacious apartment. Close to Trastevere train, tram & bus stops. Safe neighbourhood. Very good Iper Pewex supermercato across road. Building security. Big TV. Good fridge, stove/oven, clothes washing machine. Good cooking equipment.
Noisy neighbour in opposite apartment even after lodging a complaint. A little too much furniture in bedroom and lounge rooms reducing floor area. We suggest to the owner that it be removed to improve floor space layout.

Verified reviewWe felt very well, it was a bit far from the attractions, but we liked it because we used the public transport that comes quickly, we managed to see other places in Rome. We often took bus 8 to Venice square, and from there you can reach all the important places to visit. We went to the Vatican by train from Trastevere station, which is very close to the accommodation. We walked a lot every day, but we were prepared for it and we liked it. If you have the Google Maps application on your phone, you can orient yourself very easily. La Casa Lory is more beautiful than in the displayed pictures, comfortable beds and has everything you need.

There is everything needed for a short stay, the apartment itself is clean and spacious with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfortable beds and little balcony. The location is great: there are many restaurants and supermarkets nearby, bus stops, metro, train station. We had a great time and definitely recommend Casa Lory in Rome!

However, the host treated us terrible and unacceptable, to say at least. After requesting early check-in at 1am, they said it is okay for us to arrive at that time. When we did, we were told they have different guests there so they will be able to accommodate us one night later. Basically, left us alone on the street at midnight, left to whatever we were able to find other than sleeping at the train station. Booking did not help us either. Awful experience making us not trust the host at all. If we could, if we would found something else that night, we wouldn't have stayed at Casa Lory. Do not recommend, if you want to rely on what the host tells you. Horrible experience.
I would like to clarify the review I just received: the guest booked our property from 29 December 2022 to 05 January 2023 making a request for check in between 24.00/00.01, since our check in is from 13.00 to 22.00 we still agreed. On 28 December 2022 at 11.00 pm we receive a message from the guest who informs us that he will arrive in our facility within twenty minutes. We explain that you made the reservation from the 29th and we cannot accommodate you on the evening of the 28th as the house is occupied by other guests. We can check in on December 29th (as booked) at 13.00. In any case I help the guest look for another accommodation for the night of December 28th, which I find, and send them a message...... No response.... Until the morning of December 29th, when we made the chek in at 12.30 (before the scheduled time). It doesn't seem to me that I behaved incorrectly, on the contrary I find the behavior of the guests cunning and lying.

Verified reviewThe appartment was sparking clean. It is very well equipped, kitchen has all you would possibly need. It is quiet and the bed was big and confortable. There is a big supermarket just infront the app and also non-stop shop and many restaurants near by. It is taking about 30 mins to get from the app to the center with bus.2 buses are going to piazza Venezia. 1 bus to Termini station. You can use the train to go to Vatican. Overall great value for the money, I recommend.
