How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

very thin walls within the hotels so we have heard every noise from the corridors, bathroom could use some upgrades

To walk this many stairs to the 3rd floor!I guess the elevator didn't work! Thankfully I nice stuffmember helped to bring up the luggage!

It looked like everything is fixed and polished but only for the first sight. During the stay you could see that it has some minor bugs and not everything is how it seems to be. But nothing major What would spoil our trip.
Very good location of the hotel just few minutes walking from San Marco square. The room was pretty large with comfortable bed and bathroom with bathtub.

That I needed to unclog the toilet. The receptionists only comment after I told her that I had to unclog the toilet was if it was still blocked.

The location was good. The room was fine. The staff were great - super friendly and helpful particularly Manuela on the breakfast team who made three hot drinks for me and my family each day with a big smile!

The copies of the old paintings on the wall are of such poor quality that it really hurts to look at them.

The facilities don’t really compare with those of a modern-built hotel, but that’s kind of the point. You’re staying in Venice, after all!
Wonderfully Venetian ambience - obviously old spaces converted into modern hotel rooms. The rooms are managed by the San Lorenzo staff a few doors down, who were wonderfully helpful. Excellent location, and impressively quiet as well.

Well it was expensive - but I guess that is Venice.
The feel of the hotel was so "old world Venice" - loved the atmosphere. Our room was decorated in Venican style -again gorgeous. We had a canal-view room with a little balcony which was magnificent. The room was large with plenty of storage space - the location was simply the best! Cafes just outside and a short walk to St Marks Square. Wide variety of breakfast items in a nice breakfast area.

Breakfast is expensive (25 Euros per person) but it was good and certainly convenient. Our outdoor terrace was nice but had a tree crowding one side that made sitting out by the canal overlook a bit leafy.
The location was wonderful, a 15 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge, 10 minutes to Plaza de San Marcos, and 5 minutes from a water taxi or Vaporetto stop (Zaccaria). The front desk was very helpful and set up an evening gondola ride that went through small canals right around the hotel, it was lovely. They also made restaurant reservations for us. The room was very comfortable.

Very hard and uncomfortable beds, and a bit of renovation would be needed, especially in the bathroom.
Very good location, and rooms really nicely decorated with traditional wall fabrics and furniture. Staff very friendly and available.

The floor was a bit dusty and hairdryer was covered with something so that it was not pleasant to touch it

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Right on the canal. Few minutes walk to St Marks Square. Rooms fabulous, very venetian. Staff very friendly. Lovely breakfast.

Hard to find. Expensive for what you get.

The food is excellent though it has to be said that breakfast is rather expensive, We think all rooms should have tea and coffee making facilities even though these were rpovided on request.
We had a serious problem during our stay (nothing to do with the hotel), and the management and staff went to great lengths to give us all the assistance they could and for which we were and remain extremely grateful.

Breakfast was overpriced and room was quite small.
Breakfast was quite expensive ($25 euro per person) so we opted out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was not too far from the centre and amenities but not very close either. The view from the window was beautiful!
