The hotel is part of an old monastery complex outside the gates of the fortified old town. So there is a lot of walking and some degree of climbing up steps to go to dinner....unless you use the adjacent restaurant.

Excellent breakfast and super friendly management who took the time to explain how to reach the sites.

    Restaurant closes at 9 p.m.

Very warm welcome from the guest, although not present (serving in their restaurant, not directly on site) when we arrived. The whole looks a little bit like a youth hostel and the price is a little bit expensive in relation with the comfort of the room, but the view from the room was nice (outside view to the Toscana landscape, not an inner view to the closter), and the breakfast room was also very nice, with wall paintings on one side. Volterra is a little bit far away by foot, ca. 1,5 km to the center of the city.

After having travelled for the last month and a half, it was wonderful staying in a spacious, clean room. The spaciousness of the room allowed me to breathe and get re-centered. The staff was also very sweet and helpful. Breakfast was lovely.

The only uncomfortable thing was working hours of reception, it closed at 20 p.m., so when we wanted to pay for the room at the evening before check out we found it already closed. But fortunately to us, later on we saw from our room that someone appeared at the reception, so we managed to pay that evening.

We had a pleasant stay at this hostel, it was worth booking actually, cause of the location and price. Room was quite small, but comfortable, towels were changed every day, there were shampoo, soap and shower gel in the bathroom, which was cleaned every day as well. Breakfast was quite decent, there was a variety to choose from (coffee, tea, milk, yogurt, cereals, jams, butter, cookies, several kinds of pies or sweet tarts, cheese, cold meat cuts, eggs, several types of bread, fruits, ecc.). As for location - it was rather good, cause hostel itself was situated a bit far from city center, but it wasn't a problem, we could easily reach it in 10-15 minutes of walking. Staff was always polite and very helpful.

Good breakfast with opportunity to eat outdoors next to inner courtyard. Nice walking accessibility to the old town of Volterra. Situated in countryside with stroll on tree lined roads. Heard a real cuckoo calling.

We checked in around 12:30. Then got a coffee in the lobby. The staff had no qualms about telling us that they close for reposa aka finish your coffee and get out. We realized that the front desk fully closes fr 1-4 ish. If we had come a half hour left we wouldn’t have been able to check in. They should make this clear on their website, or booking description cuz this would really upset me if I was cold and tired and arrived to no one at reception.

Breakfast was good. It was cold and rainy the weekend we were there but it was no problem keeping warm as their heaters are great. Very clean.

The hotel is situated next to a hospitel complex and was easy to reach by car. There is a parking lot (not secured) behind the hotel. The old town of Volterra is in walking distance. Ca. 15 minutes. The room was amazingly big and cool. The bathroom was spacious enough with a good shower. The people at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was served next to the monastry garden. Very peaceful and the food was good. We enjoyed our stay. Volterra is a nice little town where you can easily spent an afternoon.

A little out of town. Would need car to move around. Rooms were basic with no a/c. Started in a room next to the road so was noisy but they moved me to a quieter one.

The place has a beautiful grass quadrant and arched portico for breakfast which could also be eaten in the frescoed room. Staff friendly and helpful. 15 minute walk to the town (steep one way). Volterra festival and the city was fantastic.

WIFI was sometimes patchy. Most nights it was ok to open the windows and let the cool air inside, however some nights were hot enough to require an AC but this hotel does not have any. I think that it would be good if either there is an AC in the rooms, or else mosquito nets at the windows if windows are expected to be left open to cool the room.

We enjoyed the silence especially in the evening, and the fact that this hotel is surrounded by greenery. Breakfast is good, location is very central, and the breakfast areas (both inside and outside) are lovely. Staff was very helpful even when the reception was technically closed.

No apparent flaws. Just that a sign/board would be helpful to guide you from the main road.

Although you rather need a car to find the place, you can park safely and the hostel is a hidden gem. Super friendly stuff, spotlessly clean, property is simply lovely. It is not a luxurious place, however you get absolutely everything you need for a super cozy stay. Quiet, tasty décor, spacious room and bathroom, special atmosphere, modest yet very enjoyable breakfast. You can walk to the town, which is absolutely cute. Such a great stay!

It was annoying that we could not gain access to the place until middle of the afternoon. it would have been helpful to be able to drop off the suitcases earlier. Breakfast was fairly basic and we had to ask for croissants. There was no fresh fruit for breakfast. We drink decaffeinated coffee and had to pay extra for that. They should have been able to provide instant sachets of coffee. In the bathroom we found it very difficult to get any cold water, only hot came out of the cold tap.

It is a little bit too remote from the downtown, without car I dare not walk into the center during the autumn evening. By car it's easy. Or if you are not alone... as it takes just about 15 mins to walk in, and the area is lightened. No breakfast included in this price... hmm... I had to plan long ahead as no late check in or early check out, but I could accept it, once you get the key you can walk in-out freely.

The area looks wonderful, and the atmosphere of the hostel is also nice, comfy room, not a big deal, but it has everything I needed, and clean, warm. (I was there during a cold rainy time).

Perhaps the rooms were a little too basic. No fridge was a pain. As was having no means to keep out mosquitoes other than keeping the windows closed. The area was strange - some of the local buildings were part of an abandoned hospital though personally I found that rather quirky.

The setting was lovely - a converted convent with beautiful cloisters to relax in or eat breakfast. The staff were really helpful and friendly The rooms were comfortable if basic The wifi was strong enough to keep in touch with the world outside and even stream the odd programme via Netflix. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is only 15 to 20 minutes walk from the centre of Volterra. The room was spacious and clean.

Steps is is very welcoming and the cloister itself is very peaceful. The walk into town can be challenging, use the car if you are unfit.

Air conditioning for summer would be a must.

Peace, silence, the "chiostro" is a nice place to meditate.

A bit pricy, don't accept card payments and bed bugs!

    Amazing view and location.
