How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewGino has carved out a lovely series of rooms and spaces from an ancient Arab quarter, renovating various agricultural spaces to make comfortable and clean rooms. It's in an excellent location. Agrigento is not a typical city, so you can't just park in front of everything, but there's ample free parking just 50 meters from the BnB so you don't have to worry about driving around the twisty streets of Agrigento. Gino is knowledgeable and accommodating. He clearly has a deep love for his territory and has invested time and effort into giving back to it. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewGino is a wonderful host who gave us his time. He is interested in his guests and clearly has a love for his town. The double room was lovely - spacious, with a great bathroom. The building itself was interesting from both an architectural and historical perspective, and Gino has renovated it with care (a rarity these days).
Room was not very soundproof so just something to be aware of.

The property is charming, beautifully maintained, and perfectly located for exploring the historic center and the stunning Valley of the Temples. Every detail, from the decor to the cleanliness, showed care and thoughtfulness. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was Gino – the host. He was incredibly welcoming, warm, and helpful from the moment we arrived. Gino went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, including great local recommendations that made our trip even more special. Verified reviewAdvantageous location, right near the Main Street to explore Agrigento. Wonderful host, very welcoming and helpful. Room had all the basic necessities - nice comfortable bed and mini fridge. Lovely courtyard to sit out in.
Could hear the guests above us late into the night very clearly. Our room was adjoining the courtyard, so when people were outside sitting/chatting it was possible to look into the room we were staying in. Glass does seem to be heavily reflective however still was slightly uncomfortable to have the curtains open. This would not be an issue for some of the other rooms.

Verified reviewVery close to everything and we felt safe walking around at night. Gino was really welcoming and provided a great breakfast. Gino was very helpful with recommendations to help make our stay go well.
We didn't follow the booking advice about parking on arrival which gave us a few challenging moments, especially as Google maps got confused in the tiny lanes. Be sure to park on the main road and it's just a short walk to the apartment.

Verified reviewIt is a very nice property with comfortable beds. The rooms are very clean. It’s about 10 min walking distance to the town centre.
This property is not recommended for families with children. According to the host, children are supposed to be very quiet at all times and try to stay away from the common areas. The host was observing us either in person or by cameras what felt very uncomfortable. It’s strange that the host intended to leave our passports on a table in a common public area while he knew we planned to be away that evening. We did not agree to that for security reasons. Parking is on a street , away by a few minutes walking, and it’s difficult to find a spot.

Not family friendly property, especially children are not welcome. It was a stressful stay for us to hear different comments from the host. We felt observed by the host which was strange. We never experienced something like this and didnt feel comfortable although the property was nice.
In fact you are right, our property is not suitable for families with children, like yours. The property is rented to everyone on the condition that the rules that the owner unquestionably establishes in full compliance with the individual standards of each guest and that at the time of booking each person accepts and undertakes to respect are respected. The aforementioned rules prohibit, among other things, that undisciplined children run around, shouting in the courtyard (common area); that they do not deface the property (originally built more than 100 years ago); that everyone respects the separate waste collection by putting the relevant waste in the appropriate bins and therefore you cannot put glass beer bottles in the plastic bin, to hide from the owner a ceramic coffee cup that you had broken. Always remember that the property always remains with the owner who, after your stay, must make it available to subsequent guests.
