Hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. We upgraded from a ground floor room to one upstairs. 2 floors up, there was no lift, but stairs were manageable. Would recommend this hotel. Close to stations and easy to find.

We received a free upgrade to the neighbouring 3-star Albergo San Martino. Great breakfast, lots of sweet options. Excellent location, easy to reach from the train station and within the historic city center of Lucca. A very good restaurant 'El Corso' is just around the corner.

Shower felt unclean on the base but the manager explained they had used very strong cleaner on it without success. They are going to upgrade it. The rest was very clean.

Let us come in early as my husband was very tired. Upgraded us to a room near the breakfast for a small sum. Gave us good information. Loved the historic nature of the room.

I was slightly disappointed with the bread selection at breakfast but everything else was fine. Otherwise it is very hard to find fault with this excellent small hotel.

First of all I was offered a room in the main hotel, Albergo San Martino, so these grades are not based on Hotel Diana which is a kind of annex. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The location is excellent, being a two-minute stroll from the Cathedral and five minutes from the central piazzas. I had walked out of a very disappointing hotel, halfway through my intended stay. With better research I wish I had chosen the Albergo for both nights of my stay in Lucca.

Nothing that we did not like. It was all great.

The host gave very easy to follow map directions. Our room was quiet with a good shower and plenty of room to spread out. We had a key to the building as well as our room so could stay out as long as we wished. We were too late to have breakfast the next day but the host said it was not a problem and we enjoyed a delicious spread with plenty of gluten free options too. The staff were extremely helpful and amazing hosts. They looked after our bags while we walked around the next day. Would definitely return.

-The front desk is not staffed in this property so you have to proceed to the sister hotel at the corner of the street for check in/out, breakfast, etc; we initially didn't know this so we kept ringing the front desk buzzer at the main door (which was supposed to connect to the reception of the sister hotel but didn't) until we were successfully able to connect with the reception via WhatsApp. But all of this isn't so bad considering that you're paying less to stay in Hotel Diana relative to its sister hotel.
