How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe room was beautiful and spacious, but I had specifically booked a larger one. The breakfast wasn’t great – quite small – but that’s common in Italy. The woman wasn’t very polite, but that’s okay for me.
The location is a bit sketchy, but it's okay. Inside, it's beautiful. A typical Italian neighborhood where regular locals live. Don’t be scared by the outside.
Dear Mariya, Thank you so much for the excellent rating. Regarding our location, it certainly takes 20-25 minutes to reach the Ponte Vecchio, but it's the furthest point, yet it's accessible by city buses, just two minutes away. The Duomo, the church of Santa Maria Novella, the church of Carmine or Ognissanti with their museums, and the fashion district are all easily reached in 10-15 minutes on foot or by tram, which is 200 meters away. Perhaps if you want to stay in rooms facing the Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio, ranging from 20 to 36 square meters, some with frescoes, the price will be 50% or 100% higher than ours. Regarding breakfast, we offer sweet and savory options, and in both cases a buffet with orange juice or water, fruit salad, various yogurt flavors, and a choice of two different types of cake, as well as toast and jams. For the savory platter, we offer mozzarella and tomato, eggs, a selection of Tuscan cured meats and cheeses, as well as bread and butter. For the sweet breakfast, in addition to the buffet options and cakes, we offer various types of croissants. All coffee options are served at your table. If you didn't find the breakfast sufficient, you could simply let us know, and we would have made arrangements for you, as well as for those with celiac disease and lactose intolerance. Those who choose a B&B already know that they won't find the same selection as in a 100-room hotel with a chef on hand. We're sorry that our breakfast options weren't to your liking. We hope to welcome you as our guests in the future. Best regards, Cristina & Marco

Verified reviewWe loved staying here. Cristina is a great host, all her recommendations were top! She took time to give us the locals’ suggestions and I am happy we got to experience more than just the touristic Firenze. The place was very clean (in the real sense of the word from the dictionary, not just okay clean). The location was ok for us as it is just next to the touristy center, a 30 minute walk from the dome. The entire building is historical, the design keeps the character alive.

Dear Kylie, Thank you for the excellent comment. Regarding our location, it certainly takes 20-25 minutes to reach the Ponte Vecchio, but it's the furthest point, and it's still accessible by city buses, just two minutes away. But the Duomo, the church of Santa Maria Novella, the church of Carmine or Ognissanti with their museums, and the fashion district are all easily reached in 10-15 minutes on foot or by tram, which is 200 meters from us. Perhaps if you want to stay in rooms facing the Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio, ranging from 20 to 36 square meters, some with frescoes, the price will be 50% or 100% higher than ours. Regarding the price/quality ratio, you've chosen one of the most popular periods, and the entire city has higher than average prices. Certainly, if you had booked in January, our prices would have been significantly lower. Hoping to have you as our guests again, Best regards Cristina & Marco

Verified reviewWe had a very spacious room with beautiful antique furniture and facilities. Marco, our host, was very welcoming and spent a lot of time on our arrival explaining the local area, restaurants and public transport, which was easily accessible approximately 250 metres walk away. He also gave us a great map of Florence and put all the relevant information on it. The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented.
The residence (B&B) is on the first floor, up a flight of steps, with no lift. Although this was not an issue for us, it should be taken into consideration for guests with mobility problems.
Dear David , really thank you for the excellent comment. As for our location, certainly to reach the Ponte Vecchio it takes 20-25 minutes, but it is the furthest place that can still be reached by city buses 2 minutes from us. But the Duomo, the church of Santa Maria Novella, the church of Carmine or Ognissanti with their museums, not that the fashion streets can be reached comfortably in 10-15 minutes on foot or using the Tram that is 200 meters from us. Maybe if you want to stay in front of the Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio in rooms from 20 to 36 square meters, some frescoed, the price will be fifty or one hundred percent higher than ours. Regarding the stairs, the situation at the moment is not changeable, but we always report the number of steps to those who have a mobility problem so as to allow a better choice. Hoping to have you as welcome guests in the future. Greetings Cristina & Marco

Verified reviewA short walk from the hustle & bustle of central Florence, this B&B just south of the Arno River is a perfect retreat for that afternoon nap or when you need nighttime silence. Inside the unassuming front doors, you’ll find a quaint yet luxurious domicile with high ceilings, chandeliers, and original frescos dating back ~200 years. The rooms are charming, with decadent furniture, ornate window curtains, and traditional Italian shutters. The wallpaper is necessarily Florentine, flowery and thin, and FYI, so are the walls… but hey, we didn’t mind. Ever wondered what it’s like to have an Italian aunt and uncle? You’ll find out here too. The cute couple will welcome you with helpful suggestions and apologies for talking for your ears off. They even sit down with you and mark out (on a map they supply) everything you could want to see or eat. Every morning, they personally cater the most delightful breakfast too and take your coffee or tea orders with relaxed—yet meticulous—attention to detail. Honestly, it was the meal and conversation we looked forward to most every day. You also have access to a lovely rooftop terrace with a view of the city domes. Almost makes you not want to leave each morning and just spend your time lounging around. Recommend very much.

The breakfast because it was very light.
Dear Iulia , we note that despite a positive comment, some evaluations of our business were not excellent, even though we have a score of 9.3 out of 10 in the comments of over 580 guests who have recently left a review. Regarding the quality/price ratio, you have chosen one of the most sought-after periods due to the many vacation days of Italian guests, and the entire city has the highest prices of the year. Certainly, if we had booked in January, our prices would have been much more affordable. Regarding our location, it certainly takes 20-25 minutes on foot to reach Ponte Vecchio, but it is the furthest place still reachable by city bus, 2 minutes from us. The Duomo, the Church of Santa Maria Novella, the Church of Carmine or Ognissanti with their museums, as well as the fashion streets are easily reachable in 10-15 minutes on foot or by using the tram that is 200 meters away from us. Perhaps if I had wanted to stay in front of the Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio, in rooms from 20 to 36 square meters, some with frescoes like yours, the price would have been fifty or one hundred percent higher than ours. As for services, upon arrival we will dedicate time to a historical-artistic presentation of the city, pointing out places of interest not reported in the guides or restaurants loved by Florentines that you will have also tried. We provide a parking fee of only €6 for those who reach us by car. Every day at breakfast we suggest interesting itineraries. For those with special dietary needs, lactose-free and gluten-free products are available. Upon request we provide maps of the city, we book museum entrances when possible or guided tours in the most interesting areas of Tuscany, we offer free Wi-Fi, smart TV in many rooms and much more. We have a splendid panoramic terrace available to our guests, even smokers. If you wish to send us your suggestions, we will be interested in evaluating them. For the location at the time of booking, our location was well marked on the Booking.com map which was certainly not in front of the Duomo or Palazzo Vecchio. If these were your needs, you should have paid more attention and not chosen our structure, but one of the hundreds of B&Bs or Hotels that are in those areas. English: Certainly the price for a structure with frescoed rooms like ours would have been higher by 30 to 100% in addition to the cost of parking between €25-35 per night. We decided to position ourselves just outside the pedestrian area, precisely for the ease of parking and for the proximity (2 minutes) to public transport which in 6-8 minutes reaches the station which is already in a very central area next to the church of Santa Maria Novella and the Museo del 900. If then for you walking 10, 15 or 20 minutes on foot to reach the streets of fashion or the churches of Cestello, Ognissanti, del Carmine or Palazzo Pitti and Ponte Vecchio are worrying, it is always possible to use the taxi as you do in Madrid or Barcelona. Regarding breakfast we offer sweet and savory options and in both cases a buffet with orange juice or water, fruit salad, yogurt of various flavors and two different types of cake to choose from as well as biscuits and jams. For the savory tray we offer mozzarella and tomato, eggs, a selection of Tuscan cold cuts and cheeses in addition to bread and butter. For the sweet breakfast, in addition to the buffet options and cakes, we offer different types of croissants. All the cafeteria options are served at the table. If the breakfast was not enough for you, you could simply let us know, we would have provided as well as for those who are cilic and lactose intolerant. Those who choose a B&B already know that they will not find a choice like in a hotel with a hundred rooms with a chef available. For the reasons stated above we believe that your evaluations do not correspond to the reality of our structure. Best regards Cristina

Verified reviewGreat location - close to public transport! The room was beautifully decorated and serviced daily - which was just wonderful to come back to after long days of sightseeing! The breakfast was light but exactly what we wanted and needed inbetween meals of pasta and pizza! The hosts were so very helpful and gave us an amazing insight into Florence and “must-do’s”!!!! Would highly recommended!!!!
If I had to think of a negative - the only thing is that because the building is so beautiful in its historic attributes - we could hear the keys in the old doors when others came and went! However our room had full blackout curtains so we could easily sleep in if needed!
Dear Jistine end Donna, Thank you for the wonderful comment. Unfortunately the final rating is much lower than our average even though you gave 10/10 in all the items, and we regret this. As for the doors of the rooms, we thought a lot about whether to put modern doors or leave the 1960s ones in walnut wood. In some rooms, they would have clashed with the paintings on the walls and we decided not to replace them. Truly yours is the first consideration on this topic that we have received. In the hope of having you as our welcome guests again, Best regards Cristina & Marco

Verified reviewThe apartment has everything you need for a short staying. It is 20 minutes walking distance from the city center, 6 minutes to railway station by tram, which is 5 minutes walk from the apartment. There are few nice restaurants nearby, but the most of them are about 15-20 minutes walking distance. The breakfast is fine, the host could provide you with all necessary information about the city. The most enjoyable thing concerning the apartment is an amazing terrace on the roof of the building with stunning view on the Cathedral dome and the city.

Dear Sergey, we see that for your stay in Florence at our property, you gave us a bad rating of 8.0/10 against 9.3/10 in the comments of over 580 guests who have left a review recently. Regarding cleaning (9.6/10) we personally check each room and yours was also perfectly cleaned and tidied, even in the presence of a small child. As for services, we gave you the possibility of arriving after closing time and upon arrival or the next morning as in your case, we dedicated time to a historical and artistic presentation of the city, pointing out places of interest not listed in the guides or restaurants appreciated by Florentines that you have also tested.
