How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewJust the location although to get in we had to literally pass thru a restaurant tables in the middle of the clients
I wouldn't stay here again. Terrible value for three nights. We stayed in room 54, with the entrance literally in the middle of a restaurant. The room was unventilated and the mattress was awful. The internet signal provided by the wifi's property was very very weak. Concerning car parking, before arriving, I sent a message asking for directions to parking and received no response. I ended up asking someone on the street and was given incorrect directions about parking on the white line, which resulted in a €29 fine. The place was completely unwelcoming and impersonal. After Monopoli, we stayed in Lecce and Matera and saw the difference in service in a much more positive light.

Verified reviewRight in the heart of things! Just know that this will come with a little extra noise at night (as expected for the area in summer.) Lots of space, everything I needed!

Verified reviewLocation of the accomodation in general very good, in the middle of centro storico of Monopoli. Great bar around the corner for breakfast with lots of healthy and fresh options.
The room we were in (room 52) is right next to a restaurant. The window is literally above a table - you could eat Spaghetti out of someone’s plate by reaching your hand out. The noise keeps getting worse at the end of the shift, by 1 or 2am, when the restaurant staff starts cleaning and turns the music even louder. The worst though is the glass collection afterwards, when you have finally found some sleep and wake up with a heart attack and think the house is falling apart. Also, you will have the feeling that you are sharing the room. There is a thin door between the two rooms and you can literally hear every single word (!!). We told the host after the first and second night that it was impossible to sleep in that room - the response was simply that it’s a great area and that the room facilities are impeccable. And this point we need to mention that the floor was very dirty when we arrived and there were thick black curly hairballs everywhere (I am dark blond). The room, specially the bathroom, was very humid and since we couldn’t open the window, there was also a very strong odor. Our towels didn’t dry after the first day and we didn’t get any new ones.

Verified reviewThe location is great. Very clean. Good value for money. The host, Rosa, was very friendly but we only interact over the phone.
The shape of the accommodation was a bit claustrophobic and the mattress wasn't very comfortable. I personally prefer human interaction rather than msg and instructions.

Verified reviewGreat apartment right on the edge of the port in the old town. We loved everything about this place. Bed was comfortable, shower and bathroom very clean. Right besides bars and restaurants. Ideal
No natural light, no windows. Sand and grit falling from the ceiling onto the bed due to traffic in the upstairs apartment?. Didnt put us off staying here again though.

Verified reviewThis apartment was truly exceptional! Located right in the heart of the old town, just above an outdoor restaurant – the perfect spot if you want to soak in the evening buzz and atmosphere of the city. The apartment itself is very spacious and full of natural light. I especially loved the balcony, accessible through a large door – a great place to sit and enjoy the view and sounds of the old town life. Despite the central location, there’s no need to worry about noise – it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful at night. The apartment has a unique historical charm that made the stay a truly special experience. The host was very helpful and always quick to respond to any questions or needs, which made the stay even more comfortable. I highly recommend staying for more than just one night – Monopoli deserves more than a quick visit! Thank you! :)

Verified reviewConsidering the price, the property was perfectly located.
The property is located in a very busy aerea. Exactly next to a restaurant. During our staying, we were waken up exactly at the same time in the morning thanks to the rubbish collector that discards full tanks of glass waste. The sound surely wakes you up. During the night, young people continuously knock and run at the front door. The room was connected to another one true a locked door which felt a bit insecure and questions privacy. The old stone requires a treatment, as it smells of humidity once you enter the room, especially the bathroom. The underground shower is uncomfortable especially for taller people.

Verified reviewThe location 10/10
The host needs to invest more in bedding and mattress. The mattress is old and the bedding doesn’t fit the mattress, making the mattress cover jump off the corners in the middle of the night, ending the guest sleeping on the mattress itself. The floor needs to be swept at the very least. Walking near footed was a bit of a challenge.

Unpleasant smell from lack of windows, humid all the time. Air conditioning not working properly at all. A bit noisy but understandable for location.

Verified reviewLocation. They were nice enough to change my linens during my stay.
The mold and mildew fumes were so strong that I had to sleep with my nose and mouth covered. I did let the host know about the strong fumes and asked if there was another room available and there wasn’t. I needed to have the AC on 24 hours to at least feel somewhat comfortable due to the strong odors. No natural light into the cellar like room. The door to the room leads right in front of a restaurant and seating area so even if I wanted to get some natural light by opening the door I couldn’t because of lack of privacy. The bathroom is next to a restaurant behind the apartment so you can hear staff all day and into the night and it was dark. Check in was at 16:00 but I waited nearly 40 minutes to check in. Since I was not in the apartment most of the day then I just dealt with it because of how affordable it was but I was looking to book elsewhere but everywhere else in the area was fully booked. Disappointing to say the least but you get what you pay for.

Verified reviewI stayed in the single room, it was perfect for a solo traveller, it was so clean & the bathroom was so spacious. The location is everything quiet at night & walking distance to everything Monopoli has to offer. Rosa is a fantastic Host & very helpful should you have any questions. The cafe in the square outside has the best coffee I’ve had so far in Italy & cakes/breakfast is amazing.
