The room was small for what we paid but my wife had trouble with ants in the bed on the first night which spoiled her holiday in Rome . Couldn't book the restaurant either through reception or with a staff member - had to eventually book through TripAdvisor but we cancelled it anyway. The rooftop bar was great if you can get a seat which was difficult at times and the bar downstairs was always closed so we spent most of our time outside of the hotel than in it!

The location was great and close to the Forum

Restaurant expensive. Breakfast adequate but nothing special. Wifi dropped out a few times while I was trying to book tour tickets etc.

Very well located, overlooking Roman Forum and close to Colleseum and lots of restaurants., near Colluseum. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great view from roof top restaurant and breakfast area. Aircon worked well.

Bathroom was small, only one pillow for each person. But neither is worth complaining about.

The only minor gripe is that the air conditioning was less than effective - don't get me wrong, it DID work, but a single ice cube perched on the windowsill would have provided a chillier atmos! Nothing else to whinge about other than that; all-in-all, the hotel was great!

The hotel is ideally situated for sightseeing, virtually overlooking the Forum and the Colosseum. The décor is traditional and extremely in-keeping with the hotel's profile. The roof top restaurant is absolutely superb, with possibly the best views that I have ever enjoyed whilst getting stuck into a plate of food (the food also was brilliant by the way, extremely well cooked and presented). The American bar which sits above the restaurant offers a really cool ambience, albeit you may need to take out a second mortgage to enjoy it fully - the drinks are a tad on the expensive side (think Norway prices!) All-in-all, a great place to stay for a visit to Rome; we will most definitely be returning!

As we were there in the summer, the bees and birds at the rooftop while having breakfast were a bit anoying, but nothing serious. A minor negative point really, but worth mentioning.

Hotel is a bit old but very clean, comfortable and with adequate pricing. Location is excellent, by the Roman Forum and Coliseum, from where one can explore Rome easily by public transportation and walking. There are dozens of restaurants nearby, with some of the best almost next door (the one at hotel seems to be very good). Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast at hotel is very good and is served at the restaurant on the rooftop, which has an excellent view of the Roman Forum and its surroundings.

Rooms need work, PowerPoints & light switches need review, they are falling apart & sparking when turning on. A couple of lights in our room didn’t work. Shower was tiny. Being on the 1st floor we had to use two lifts to get to our room. Wasn’t able to have dinner in the restaurant as we hadn’t booked, & the waiter wasn’t pleasant when informing us of such. Reception could have informed us at checkin that we needed to book dinner. Breakfast overpriced at 18euro each, we chose to eat elsewhere for all of our meals.

The location was great. View from the restaurant & roof top bar was good. The morning staff were very helpful & friendly.

The TV was very unreliable, every day it stopped and required re-setting or intervention by staff to fix. Something to do with the Sky channels which caused the problem if the wrong key was pressed on the remote. We were only changing channels, nothing tricky or inappropriate. Also, although we didn't see any pets on our stay we normally avoid staying at any hotel that permits pets, we do not believe it is fair to other guests to have pets in rooms, that it is unhygienic, where pets do their toilet somewhere uncontrolled, and unknown, by the hotel management and where and how some pet owners think is acceptable, for example sleeping in beds etc..

Breakfast on the roof terrace and the location right in centre of the Forum.

The hotel is lovely and is set back from the main road. It is an old converted convent and it feels very cool, quiet and serene when you are inside. There are lots of sofas in the reception area if you wish to just sit, relax and read and there is a TV area. There are lifts as well as stairs to the bedroom floors. The staff are very professional and welcoming and will arrange taxis or safe storage of your luggage if you are leaving later than the 12-noon check out. The dining room for breakfast and evening dining must have one of the best views in the world over the Forum and other classical buildings. We only ate breakfast which was buffet style and quite acceptable, with something for everyone's taste, from hot to cold dishes, meats, cheeses, juices, tea, coffee, pastries, fruit and yoghurt. There is a small 'American Bar' on the rooftop terrace where it is nice to sit and socialise as well as take in the view. The hotel is spotlessly clean with lots of hot water in the bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, television and air conditioning. It is in an excellent location for the Colosseum, Forum and other fantastic buildings. There is quite a walk to the Vatican but you can get a nearby bus if needed, the number 81 from the Colosseum. You can also get the Metro from the Colosseum to other destinations as well as a taxi, of which there are many. We were able to walk to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps within 45 minutes which allowed us to go shopping and stop for coffee. There are lots of bars, restaurants and gelaterias nearby, all at reasonable prices, but it is a capital city so they are more expensive than maybe you will find at home. We felt safe whilst walking around Rome and there are lots of police officers around. I highly recommend the Forum Hotel as a comfortable, safe and convenient place to stay whilst in Rome.

The only slight negative is our room did have a bit of a funny smell at times but once the windows were open for a few minutes it went also I did get stuck in the lift which was a bit scary the lifts are old style in keeping with the property but I got the impression that it happens quite often but the guy who rescued us! We rang the bell in the lift but nobody came so we rang the reception so make sure you have your phone with you! This said I'd stay there again without a doubt if I went to Rome in the future.

I requested a room with a view as I was going for my 50th birthday and boy did I get a view! It's one of the best views I've had from a hotel and we've stayed in some amazing places. The hotel staff couldn't do enough to help us ordering us taxis and recommending and booking restaurants etc. I've read some reviews and they have criticised the decor but in my opinion it's in keeping with the age and area of the property and I like antiquities as you can get a modern chain style hotels anywhere and you could be anywhere, but this felt very plush with its antique pieces of furniture dotted around my room and comfy armchairs perfect for watching the world go by. The position is spot on all the main attractions within a 15 minute walking distance and the Colosseum 5 mins walk away and opposite the Roman Forum and surrounded by shops and good restaurants too.

the location was very convenient to all the sites we wanted to see - while at the same time a little apart from the main tourist area so quiet at night. The views from the restaurant and bar were quite wonderful. the rooms were very nice, but what really stood out was the service from the staff at the front desk which was excellent.

The room was a lot smaller than excected and there was not enough hanging or storage space either for clothes or in the bathroom. I could not unpack half my clothes with only 8 hangers between us and 3 shallow drawers. The bathroom is small and again with little shelf space. I like breakfast in the room and expected that for 24 euros a day I'd get more variety than coffee, a small bowl of cereal and 2 croissants. One lady was very surly and didn't want to bring it. Every day I had to ask for the room service hanger to put on the door for breakfast and every day one item at least was missing. My husband went out to a local cafe each day and had better value but it's my holiday and a four star hotel - not cheap - so I would have liked better breakfasts. Also, from the picture it looks like the restaurant is outdoors on the terrace and we envisaged using it often. However, it is encased with glass, which made it very hot, and it was fully booked up all week. On top of that it was a very expensive, formal restaurant. So we never actually used it. The American Bar is very nice but hugely expensive also. There are no less expensive altenatives so you do need to go out, which we did, and happily the area is packed with restaurants and cafes and bars... It is a great location!

The location is second to none - you look right over the ancient ruins, are on the doorstep of wonderful, cobbled back streets crammed with restaurants and shops; and are within walking distance from most of the main places of historic interest. That said, it is very hot and crowded so you do need comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing!

Breakfast was very basic and I would have expected a higher quality breakfast for the price you pay for the hotel. I had family staying across the road in a far cheaper hotel which was as comfortable and clean with a better breakfast and for half of the cost. The hotel rely on the view from their hotel because there is nothing else about the hotel that makes it worth the price you pay. While the view is excellent, the view from the ground around the forum area is just as good. If I was to visit again I would stay somewhere else and just visit the rooftop bar.

Location was excellent and I like the old style of the hotel. Hotel was very clean and quiet.
