    There is nothing to dislike

The hotel is located right on the lakeside. The lounges are spacious and well-furnished, and it has two excellent restaurants. Rooms are comfortable and many have lake view and balcony.

No smoked salmon, no bananas, poor variety of breads. Atmosphere a bit stuffy, could use a bit of a modern touch

Food was of good quality, but lacked variety; presentation of it was excellent and the coffee too.

Old furniture, you can see that it's an old hotel (grandeur of the 70's), hotel is located next to a very busy road so going to the private parking be careful!

Very nice breakfast with frontal view of Lake Garda. Spacious rooms and private parking across the street.

Beautiful historic hotel! Silence, beauty - a room overlooking the lake is ideal for staying here! Yes, not new, but everything is clean and well maintained. The room smells nice, the staff is not noticeable. While breakfast, the room was removed. Breakfast is very good, I liked everything! In general, the atmosphere is unique, do not compare with hotels on the second line. Here is not just a view of the lake, here you are right on the shore of ozera! And no noise from the road if the room is overlooking Garda. In other hotels, a view of the lake from above, but in front of the lake. Just the sound of waves and singing birds! The hotel is not cheap, but the whole atmosphere, the level of service and the place is worth it! The hotel is huge, so other guests can be met either in the evening at the bar or at breakfast.

No tea and coffee making facility in the room so room service and hotel prices have to be paid for just a couple of hot drinks. As independent travellers we considered restaurant meals quite expensive.

Our room was large and attractive with very nice views over the lake. Excellent breakfast with a very good choice of foods. Attractive and large terrace with nice swimming pool.

With just a little more effort, particularly on the common areas, it could once again be truly Grand. More a reflection of the locale than the hotel, unlike for example nearby Salo, there is little to sit and watch - except other tourists.

The location - right on the lake. The air of a slightly tired but gracefully ageing hotel. Pre-dinner drinks on the bar terrace - very professional and friendly bar staff.

The hotel was a little old fashioned and for some reason (this may be an Italian thing in general) there are no plug sockets by your beside table.

Lives up to its name as Grand Hotel but a little old fashioned, not that we minded that. The location is everything here so make sure you have a lake view and make the most of it!!

Beautiful atmospheric Hotel in an old Palazzo with antique furnishings and lovely view from the rooms. Friendly staff and the breakfast of fresh local cheeses, fruits and local specialties was delicious. Ravello is a picturesque town and the walk to Amalfi was down narrow stairs, around olive groves, past caves and always the a view of the sea. I will come back here.

No tea & coffee facilities or an iron in the room for security reasons. There is room service and a laundry service though.

ALL the staff were wonderfully warm and welcoming, and most spoke several languages which helped with our unsuccessful Italian. The hotel was beautiful, and perfectly positioned by the lake. We loved rocking in a swing chair, watching the boats and life on the water. Bliss!

Staff decided to switch off air conditioning deliberately because they considered the temperature to be fine. Room was hot and with doors open attracted mosquitoes in which reception recommended along with the temperature for the past month as a reason for no air conditioner. A four star hotel which decides weather you'll be hot or cold or bitten by mosquitoes is third world. And that's an insult to great places in the third world countries. Wifi is effectively useless, unless you stand in the corridor outside your room. Close the door and the signal is poor and drops out frequently. Cleaning staff knock and enter the room straight away giving no chance to get to the door and open it, rude and ignorant but that's the Italian way.

Great location, clean and close to ferries. Great building in a really great spot.

A beautiful hotel with old school charm and character in abundance. Hotel staff all very well presented and the whole place is obviously run like clockwork. There is real attention to detail everywhere, many hotels promise this, but few can achieve it. This is certainly an establishment that can pride itself on its excellent reputation

Cleaning of room and balcony as a cheap hotel. Found paper parts on floor in room , and parts of bird nest on balcony. Service in bar was slow, and they forgot orders. Shocking since there were little peapole at the hotel at the tme we were there. Seems like they have been told that this hotel shall have excellent service, without telling them what service actually is. Very high age of guests at hotel. Average age of guests seems to be well above retirement age.

For an already expensive hotel, every opportunity is taken to extract more money - parking €14 per night, 1 towel at the pool, 2 costs extra, no iron - laundry service is extortionate (but efficient), no in-room water, (only chargeable minibar) tea or coffee, (one tea is €7) etc etc. Frankly the norm in most 4 star hotels is far higher for a lot less money, even after you accept you are paying for a fantastic view.

All the extra charges for things that are part and parcel of your accommodation in other hotels.

A beautiful old hotel on the Lake. We were there 3 years ago and found it had become very expensive since our last visit. We had a suite (room 258) which was beautiful, very comfortable and lovely view over the lake. The hotel is well situated next to the ferry, so very handy. We were on bed and breakfast, the Buffet breakfast was pretty good but only two fruit juices - orange and grapefruit; I decided to have poached egg one morning and was told I would be charged 6 euros as it had to come from the kitchen and was classed as room service!! I did have my poached egg but complained at reception and they did take the extra charge off. I ordered a pot of tea for one in our room, I was charged 7 euros for the tea and 6 euros for the room service - a total of 13 euros for a pot of tea!! If you required a cushion mattress for your sun lounger there was a charge of 3 euros per day!! The 3 course set menu in the restaurant was 55 euros per person, certainly not worth it, we only ate there once; a la carte would cost about 90 - 100 euros for a 3 course meal, which we didn't have - yes, very expensive. The restaurants in Gardone were so much better and definitely cheaper. My one gripe was the classical music in the bar and lounge - very heavy for a relaxing holiday. Sadly, I don't think we will return as they are pricing themselves out of the market.

Very expensive drinks and food. The breakfast had great continental but poor hot food which was cold. The a la carte candlelit dinner was in lovely setting but expensive. Surrounding bars and restaurants were disappointing in number and quality. There was not much to explore in the immediate vicinity.

The hotel was beautiful, inside and out with a fabulous location on the lake. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Natalia escorted us to our room and was so helpful and informative so we could make the most of our two days. The pier for the boat trips was right outside the hotel and you got discount from the hotel. Definitely explore by boat, fantastic views and great to explore the bars and culture! Get a car because the lake-side journey is also stunning, takes around three hours to cover the circumference but lots of lovely photo opps and bar stops.

Other towns around Garda have much more to see and do and equally pretty. Nice place is you just want to relax in the hotel . Hotel location by lake was lovely. the exterior of the hotel exceptional however the room we got had a side view of the lake but was very tired and relic from 1950's. No tea making facilities and a very old room with furniture and wallpaper which had seen better days. Value for money for poor. Some of the areas are quite dated and some modernisation is needed. Also a small percentage of the waiting staff in the restaurant are not the most friendly of characters in the morning and should look for another line of employment. However this is not a reflection on the rest of the staff.
