Was a little difficult to communicate with staff due to language barrier, but they were lovely. Street noise was also a little loud.

Great location for all things in the city, close to everything you want to be close to, lovely room and facilities, nice croissants at breakfast.

The bed was relatively short and a bit uncomfortable.

Very clean room and big rooms with beautiful, high ceiling. Location is perfect. Many restaurants and sightseeing walking distance from the hotel. Bus stop to the airport 50m from the hotel. Very good option for short stays in Catania!

    - Small bed.

    - Historical and characteristic building. - Located close to the centre of town, bus stop for the airport bus, and Via Filomena with nice restaurants. - Breakfast included.

Dirty hotel. Unfriendly stuff, they speak only Italian, and are rude and act like you owe something to them. They cut the hot water, after multiple complaints of tourists they turned it back in. The breakfast was a joke, they had oranges, two slices of cheese and salami on a plate, crackers, two types of youghourt. They bring you a croissant and coffee, the worst I ever had, no ideea how they made it as the coffee machine was in a different room. In the last day we saw bugs wondering around the table. All in all, extremely dirty and unfriendly and unhelpful stuff. But great location so, if you want to walk to the city center and are resistant to bugs, you can book here.

The location is the only one thing that is worth mentioning.

I did stay here over the years when in Catania. The hotel has a pleasant old fashioned atmosphere which I like very much. Nice friendly staff and owner. Simple accomodation on a great location on via Etnea.

I booked this hotel in the very last minute the same day and I had no regrets! Staff is adorable. The room is large, clean and really quite. Building in a typical beautiful Sicilian style. And last but no least, the location is just perfect, in the center of the city.

Staff practically don't speak English. I asked on reception about the best way to reach airport, and the guy told me about the furthest bus stop (and "forgot" the nearest one).

Location is perfect - just in the middle of a city. A lot of restaurants and points of interest are situated not so far. Very beautiful building; the ceiling in the room was enormously high (over 4 m) and decorated. Room was very spacious and had two exits - one to the hallway and one to the terrace. Breakfast consisted of various yougurts, cheese and ham. Coffee was quite good.

Of course, there is room for improvement as with most properties. In this case, a major overhaul of the wi-fi system is required; it is thoroughly undependable and quite frustrating. My lack of Italiano & the staff’s lack of English made it impossible for me to communicate the problem, i.e., it apparently works fine at the reception desk but NOT in the upper rooms. Enhancement of staff competency in English would be rewarded with more favourable reviews. The unremarkable breakfast is minimally adequate, although the coffee is good.

Hotel Gresi is just steps off Catania’s 3 km-long central Via Etnea. The room’s comfortable bed, reading lamps, laptop workstation and bath w/ shower, bidet, etc. are welcome features, although the wi-fi proved dysfunctional/totally unreliable. It is next door to a pharmacy and just around the corner from a lane of nothing but restaurants. It is within an easy-10 minute walk of the central historic district.

Mosquitoes in the room bit me all night. And the staff opens the doors and windows to air out the room during the day, so it doesn't matter how many you kill, more will get in.

Location was excellent. They bumped me up for free to a larger room that was available.

The staff on the desk were unhelpful and incompetent. No bedside lamps worked on our arrival and the electrics were very dodgy overall. Although a telephone was provided in the room it proved impossible to provide me with a line to make an external call. Access to WiFi was very diffiecult and the staff had no idea how to help in this regard.

From reception to your room if you've got the second floor you will have to carry the luggage yourself and without the elevator through the stairs. I would recommend also to refurbish the shower cabin, it looked a little bit worn out.

The best thing about this hotel is price/quality/location comparison. Really 5 steps from the main shopping street, rather clean and cheap. The staff is also very friendly. Of course it is still 3* hotel so you should not expect super luxury hotel.
