Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The property was beautifully decorated. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We had a huge marble bathtub. That was amazing! The assortment at breakfast was also very good. The property was very close proximity to the train station and to the center city.

They have a bar downstairs and you can smell cigarette smoke but not a big deal.
Everything!! Location is great, next to SMN train station and all main attractions in Florence. The hotel itself is very pretty, rooms are big and classy. Amenities are good quality. Breakfast is outstanding, good quality food and the dining area is gorgeous. The staff is very kind. Good price for what they offer. I will recommend this hotel!!!!!!

Like many Euro hotels, there are lots of ups and downs to find your way through the multiple merged buildings and levels.
Location is great, close enough to easily walk to the train but a world away from the train bustle and grime. Service is great, very clean and the included breakfast is great. They had several gluten free pre-packaged offerings and many naturally gf options ( yogurt, eggs, bacon, etc.). “Gym” is there (yay) but extremely minimal. Marble baths with expansive tub. Easy walk to attractions on both sides of the river.

The hotel was in a great location, 5 mins from the train station and easy access to the city centre, central market, and museums. The city is very walkable and the location of the hotel was perfect.

Nothing we didn’t like but didn’t realise that bar was restricted service due to Italian holiday season so outside area in the Piazza was closed, so no opportunity to relax, enjoy a cocktail and people watch.
Hotel was excellent, ideal location beside the train and bus stations making it easy to travel round Tuscany which we were doing and as an ideal base for walking round Florence. Staff were very friendly, polite and willing to help with any questions. Room was more than big enough and spotless.

The pillows were too hard and flat for me . Only that .
The location is amazing, 5 min from the train station and in the center of Florence at the same time . Breakfast was nice and coffee was amazing !bathroom had a window which makes it brighter during the day :)

It was perfect.
The Hotel Santa Maria Novella was as lovely as other reviewers on Booking.com indicated. The photos really don't do it justice. It has old world charm and modern comfort. The staff, especially Kevyn, were so lovely and helpful. We enjoyed the location being convenient but away from tourist crowds. The exercise room is worth checking out for a post-travel stretch! The breakfast was fantastic and the service there was exceptional.
