How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewThe property is located at a walking distance of 12 minutes to ferry or train station where there are transportation to Cinque Terre. I walked to ferry or train station following Google map. I feel safe walking and there are food restaurants or supermarkets along the way. I stayed there for three nights, I felt very comfortable by walking and there are things I could see. The host is a very nice couple who waited for my car one hour ahead. I felt very sorry. When I arrived, they opened the gate and allowed my car parked at the courtyard for the stay. I therefore spent my three days wandering around by ferry and train. The host ‘s daughter was very involved in teaching me how to travel through Whatsaap. I enjoyed their attention and the stay turned out to be the most affiliated with my travel. I definitely would come back to stay. Since it is easy to walk to ferry and train station, I was concentrating on the scenery. Thank you so much.

Verified reviewThe rooms are even better than in the photos. Very comfortable, clean, parking on the spot. There is everything you need in the rooms and in bathroom. The hosts are very friendly and hospitable. They gave us some useful advice on visit Cinque Terre and recommended very good restaurants very close to the rooms. I would really recommend and would certainly stay there again.

Verified reviewStaying in il Giardino was great for me. I was there only for a night and I came with a motorcycle to see the surrounding small coastal cities. The room, I believe is a part of multi apartment building. It looked modern, new, clean. The bathroom had everything I needed and more. Shower gells, shampoo. I also found cotton swabs for ears, make up removal cotton swabs (that I did not need). In the fridge there was complimentary water, pear juice, various teas, coffee, snacks. All complimentary. I have no idea about the location, after a whole day on the road. The owner was extra helpful. He explained to me where to go, what to see. I made some nice sunset pictures and overall was satisfied with the service. I paid a bit more than other places on my journey, but I think the owner does go an extra mile. Also, I had a free parking space for my motorcycle.
Minor annoyance for me was the light in the wardrobe room which is set on sensor. I understand the purpose and I do not mind it, but at sometime was too much turning on. Not a big problem. I belive there is an external light on the opposite building, which is on during the night and shining directly on the bed. So, shades down. :) also not a big problem.
Hello and thanks for the suggestion, in fact I noticed the breakage of the sensor which was replaced. Due to the external light, the shutters on the window probably haven't been closed, I can't find any other cause.... Thank you 1000
