How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewIt was a great old village with amazing nature, and a pool and kind people. We enjoyed our stay a lot and felt sad while we were leaving

Verified reviewRarely do we give 10/10, but this stay was definitely one. Freshly home baked cake everyday at the breakfast buffet, an incredible terrace. The whole accommodation has the vibes of a neat Tuscan village, interiors are super clean and kept in classical Italian chic. Every morning we felt the urge to explore the lush gardens with its fruit trees, the houses, play with the three local kitties and chat with neighbors. Elena gave great hints of what to visit in the surrounding area. Being able to have an "honesty tab" on every room is not only convenient but creates a real feeling of trust and increases hospitality. The property is quite big so that guests are scattering and it almost feels like you have everything for your own, yet there's always options to mingle, especially the occasional dinner, which you optionally can join. We joined in one which had live jazz background music in the garden together with a dozen or so other guests. Incredible experience. The pool is wonderful to refresh yourself. Conveniently it features a fridge and freezer nearby with cocktails, wine, soft drinks, beer and ice-cream whose consumption is paid with said honesty tab. There's a small selection of sports equipment (yoga mats, weights, tension straps, ...) in a trunk in the garden and an electrical vehicle charging point. Again, we can only say that this (our honeymoon) stay at Borgo Argenina exceeded our expectations by magnitudes.
Small thing: There's no shower head mount in the bathtub. You can practically only shower while sitting or take a full bath.

Verified reviewVery peaceful. Loved the surroundings. Although you are sharing a building with other guests it is very quiet and we rarely saw or heard anyone! Great activities like the bike ride tour through the countryside with wine tasting.

Verified reviewThe location is very lovely. Parking is easy, pool is so peaceful and comfortable, lots of friendly cats and dogs on-site and the staff help you carry luggage to the accomodation via a golf cart which is very fun :) They also hosted a wonderful bbq on one of the nights which was a great activity. The accomodation seems to be family run which is also great to see and support!
The sink in the bathroom didn't work too well. We also had a bug problem however the staff were very quick to rectify it. Bath towels are not exchanged unless you sleep 7 nights which is a bit too long especially in summer when you take frequent showers. All in all though, we still liked it a lot.
Dear Rebecca, Thank you very much for the kind words spent for our hamlet that our family carries on with all the effort we can. I am very sorry for the misunderstanding about the towels; in our houses we provide a check every 2-3 days and we ask our guests to help us meet their needs by asking for a change of linen and towels even every day if necessary. Thank you again for choosing Argenina and we hope to have you as our guests again in the future. Gabriele and Stefania

Verified reviewThe cooking class that we took was the best part about this property - we were able to learn about the history of the place from the woman who built and designed it, and it felt like we were a bit more in touch with the Tuscan experience. Our room and the views from our apartment were beautiful.

Verified reviewWe liked absolutely everything! The place is stunning, comfortable and staff super helpful. Nothing was a problem. Room was very clean and the whole property and the whole area breath taking. We changed our plans a bit and decided to rent electric bicycles and they arrived within an hour all ready and set up to use. Breakfasts to die for, massive selection of cold meats and salads together with lighter options were also available. Would recommend to everyone as location is great if you travel by car. Thank you Gabrielle and family!

Verified reviewA stunningly beautiful place perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking views in every direction. The buildings recreate an ancient village and are exquisitely designed. The service is excellent and welcoming, with the ladies in the dining area being especially wonderful. Breakfast is delicious, with a different fresh surprise each morning. Overall, this place truly delivers an incredible Tuscan experience. No on-site restaurant, and the nearest options are 20+ minutes away. The shared kitchen isn’t for cooking, which wasn’t clearly stated, so we had to change our dinner plans. No coffee/tea in the rooms, and making a cup in the shared kitchen costs €1. The narrow private road makes two-way driving and parking tricky when it’s full. None of this ruined the experience—just good to know in advance.
Thank you so much for staying at Argenina and for the kind words you spent on our hamlet. We are very sorry that some things were not quite clear before arrival, we will do our best to improve the communication to late. Just to clarify, the nearest restaurant is 2km away, the second and third are 8km away, so certainly not 20 minutes away. Our hamlet consists of both rooms and houses; the latter each have their own kitchens, while the bed & breakfast rooms have never had the use of the shared kitchen, which we use only for cooking school and for baking our breakfast cakes. This is well explained both in the kitchen itself and in the welcome paper in the rooms. Thank you again for your stay and we hope to have you as our guests in the future

Verified reviewAmazing location, very beautiful views, well connected and within a reasonable driving distance from major cities. Peaceful and quiet. The hosts were helpful and pleasant. There was heating in the house, and a chimney, which we didn't use.
We stayed in what was advertised as a "Deluxe Two-Bedroom Apartment". The distribution of the apartment itself was ok, but it definitely is in urgent need of a reform. It is a rustic house, but rustic doesn't need to mean old to the point of things working poorly. The bathroom was a nightmare, the shower cabin is old and mouldy, and the water pressure was non existent. Several times we had no water and couldn't wash hands or flush the toilet because the toilet tank woudn't fill in. Sometimes there was no hot water. Sometimes the flow would be so poor that you'd only get a few drops barely enough to wet your hands. The electricity plugs are outdated, we couldn't plug any of our devices to charge and there were only two adaptors for the whole apartment and one of them didn't even fit (we're from Europe, so in theory the plugs should be the same). The coffee machine in the kitchen leaks. There were 4 coffee capsules for a week of stay of 5 people, and when we bought new ones at a local shop, it turns out they were not the right kind, so it was money thrown out. There were of course no instructions on which capsules are the right ones, so you either know it or you don't. There was no TV in the apartment (even though it's supposed to be there). Not that we need a TV, but traveling with kids, having a TV can be helpful. Swimming pool was supposed to be open until Nov 3rd, but it was already closed on Oct 28th. Breakfast was apparently not included, although this wasn't clear during the reservation. We were informed that we could order a breakfast basket each day ahead of time, even though there was a breakfast room that was used by other guests. We couldn't use it, so no opinion on breakfast. It would be good to have mosquito nets to avoid wasps, flies and other bugs in the room. All in all, if you're staying for a few days and are fine with certain inconveniences, it's a good place to stay.
Dear Irina, Thank you again for your stay in Argenina with your lovely family and for taking the time to evaluate our house. I am very sorry to hear all these negative things about the house as throughout your stay we talked several times and never did you report these problems that we could have solved promptly. Our Rondini apartment is the main house in the hamlet, the one where all the families who for centuries year lived in this small part of Chianti and where the life of Argenina pulsated. The large fireplace, the loggia, the beamed ceilings and the layout of the beams we will probably never change them; at the same time I must point out that the windows are new and made by a local carpenter, the beds are all new from the Italian brand Dorelan, the kitchen was completely renovated just this year and the bathroom updated and overhauled every season. Evidently during your stay there must have been a problem with the water pressure that we would have easily solved with a timely plumber intervention. As for the coffee machine, we chose capsules of the well-known brand Lavazza and the professional line so that we could be sure to have machines that always work; for this reason the capsules are not commercially available but always available in the facility as stated at check-in and as I explained to you when you pointed out the problem with the machine it was due to the use of non-compatible capsules. During the booking process it is very clear that breakfast for our apartments is an extra available for a fee since so many of our guests like to receive breakfast in the privacy of their own apartment or prepare it themselves in their own kitchen. In contrast, guests staying in rooms have access to the communal breakfast room. We would have gladly explained this to you as well if you had pointed out that this fact was not clear to you in the reservation. Finally, the pool, it is true we had to close it earlier because of the heavy flooding that hit Tuscany in mid-November that damaged the pool facilities, we are sorry but we could not do otherwise. However, the entire pool area and outdoor furnishings were accessible and available. With apologies for the length of my response I again apologize that these issues have spoiled your stay and thank you again for choosing us.
