How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewI have never been so disappointed anywhere. I paid for the hotel online, they asked me what time I would arrive. According to the schedule, the plane was supposed to land at 8 pm, but we arrived at 9 pm. There were about 200 Chinese tourists at passport control and we stood for another hour to get through, we did not make it to the train, while we took the bus and metro we finally got to the hotel at 23.40. But then a surprise awaited us, the doors were closed and when we rang the bell, no one answered. We had to call a local number in roaming, but no one answered there either, only on the 5th try did they answer. The man told us to ring the bell, and after 5 minutes of convincing that no one was answering, he gave us the password with a box in which our key was. But that's not all the surprises. The room turned out to be like a closet, the window was boarded up with plastic shutters, not to mention the fact that it said a balcony with a view of the garden. It stank of dampness and mustiness. And in the shower there was mold on the walls and someone's sanitary pads were lying in the trash. I hope at least the bed linen was changed. And in the morning at 8 a.m., there was no breakfast waiting for us, only a box of croissants. If I hadn't read the reviews, I would have thought that someone had bought it for themselves, but after reading the review, I realized that this was the kind of breakfast. Under the phrase in the booking "free breakfast included" I expected at least cheese, cold meats and an egg. But there were no fresh croissants for the other 2 days. The man at the reception was not very friendly, sullen and without a smile.

Verified reviewThe neighborhood is really nice, right opposite the university. There are a lot of young people here. For the small price you get everything you need, a nice bed, a clean bathroom and a good room temperature. The host is very friendly and helpful.

All the place smelled like smoke, including our room, even though it was written that it's a non-smoking area. Also the heating was very low, and the room was a bit cold.

The internet wasn’t perfect for gaming but is enough for anything else. Another thing (not their fault) is that I didn’t realize they don’t provide cups or toothpastes (I only took toothbrush with me) beforehand.

The room was very modest, which is unexpected considering the price. It is much nicer in the pictures. There was no hand soap in the bathroom.

No sound isoliation from neighbours upside and on sides. No air inside, not very clean. Bad lightning. Couldnt open window normally because other house see everything. Doors broken and etc. Hotel was upsetting.
