How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewWe loved everything about this beautiful, peaceful and friendly B&B. The view was spectacular - we couldn't take our eyes off of it. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed (e.g. small kitchenette, t.v., wifi, outside seating area, towel drying rack, big wardrobe unit, etc.). The pool was lovely, with the same spectacular view. The atmosphere was blissful - quiet and peaceful whilst still being able to have a fun splash-around in the pool. The breakfasts were beautiful. Most importantly, Alfonso and Ursula were the best hosts - such kind, caring, lovely people. We will miss them. We had the pleasure of eating in their restaurant one night, which was such a special experience. The weather was beautiful, so we were able to eat on their roof terrace with even more spectacular views than from the rooms below. Sadly, we could only stay a week - we wish we could have stayed 2 more weeks!
We should have hired a car. Getting down the hill to the beach and into town was fine, but getting back up was harder work than we anticipated. Also, having a car would have allowed us to explore more of the beautiful Cilento area.

Verified reviewThe view was incredible. Alfonso and his wife were exceptionally nice and caring persons. The pool adds to the whole experience. Breakfast was good. Dinner on the rooftop is a wonderful experience.
The two other flats are very close. There is not so much privacy. The breakfast could have included some salty or more savoury options.

Verified reviewAlphonso and Ursula are superior hosts. They make you feel like both an honored guest and family at the same time. Wonderful views from your veranda. The pool was spotlessly clean. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner on the roof top. Ursula is a wonderful chef, the meals are tasty and very satisfying. - There's music, the stars, and the view of the harbor and the city. Can't say enough about how wonderful the Maekla Beveder experience was. One note the entrance comes up quickly on your left as you go up the road. Some map apps may have a hard time with the address so use coordintates 40.371627, 15.005164. Also drive down to just short of the train track pedestrian underpass and park then walk to the beach you'll figure it out. Less hassle in parking
I had to think of something so I guess a light over the kitchenette would be nice but that's it.
We were truly lucky to have you at Maelka. You are beautiful people. the light in the kitchenette will be the next thing we put in. Thank you with all my heart

Verified reviewWe spent 4 nights at this B&B. It was a great experience, very nice view, Alfonso and his wife are extremely friendly and will help you for anything. breakfast was with warm croissants and fruits from the garden. As there is only 3 rooms, we could have the pool almost like it was a private one. Home restaurant on the roof top is very good option for dinner with home made food.
