Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPhone in room was not functioning so unable to call reception. I couldn't believe that the bar had no Limoncello! Very hilly walk to town.
Fabulous view of the bay from the large balcony. Pool and garden were lovely. Good breakfast overlooking the town and sea. Helpful friendly desk staff. Staff parked hire car on site.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom could use an upgrade - although it was perfectly functional. The shower stall is rather small and outdated - but again, functional.
The property is dated but we knew that and were willing to trade that for the views. We had room 53 which shared a huge outdoor patio with rooms 51 and 52, that had fabulous views of the Sea and Mt. Etna. A great thing about this hotel is it's sister hotel on the beach - which guests can use. There was a very nice and large pool at our hotel that has outstanding views and is surrounded by beautiful vegetation. We stayed for 5 days which was just about right. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were wonderful - with gorgeous views all around. the terraces. The breakfast staff were very nice and attentive. The room could use updating but was adequate and the mattress very comfortable. The bathroom was somewhat small and outdated. Once or twice a day, we walked down to the Corso Umberto which is full of good restaurants, shops and just a great place to stroll with a gelato. There's a bit of a hike back up the hill to the hotel. We are seniors and didn't mind it - a lot to see along the way. Or, you can always take a cab back up the hill. It is a beautiful and ancient city that we enjoyed very much. We were blown away by the Greek Theatre - be sure to go the cafe at the top for a nice snack or lunch and amazing views! Loved a night at the Italian Opera. Enjoyed our Godfather tour much more than we thought we would. It was easy to get to the train station and the trains were clean, inexpensive and on time. No extended trip to Sicily would be complete without spending time in Taormina!

United KingdomWe enjoyed everything about our stay.
Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mediterranée. The hotel amenities were really good, particularly the pool which provided a little oasis of relaxation. The hotel room was spacious, clean and we had a huge balcony. The hotel staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to provide assistance when needed.

United KingdomThe bathroom was way too small and the shower tiny. Toiletries were scarce - one sachet of shower gel each. Breakfast was adequate. The good news - none of this bothered us at all because of all the good points and the fact that we didn't see a cloud for 6 whole days.
The location of the hotel meant you had superb views over the bay and Mount Etna - possibly the best view in Taormina. It was also very quiet with no planes, very few cars and no extraneous background noise to get on your nerves. The pool is fabulous (although access is challenging) with the same fabulous view over the bay. The staff (particularly Salvatore) are great.

United States of AmericaThe breakfasts seemed a little skimpy and could stand some improvement. For example, some yogurt which was a staple every other place we have been.
The hotel is in a good location and within walking distance of many different ethnic restaurants. The staff, Zamina and Antonio were helpful in obtaining a visiting nurse for my wife.

United States of AmericaThe hotel could use a cosmetic upgrade. Our particular room was bright on a major thoroughfare and was noisy. The rooms further back from the street probably were not so noisy.
The view from the terrace was exceptional. The staff was very, very helpful. The room was dated but clean.

United KingdomThe coffee at breakfast wasn't great (if you want cappuccino or long coffee). The hotel is a bit tired/old fashioned if you like something modern, although we thought it was quite charming and unpretentious. One tiny lift for the entire hotel meant a lot of waiting around - challenging on a hot day as no air con in the main building/communal areas. Some of the walls and structures (including a bridge to the pool) looked as though they needed some maintenance work. That being said - all in all I thought it was a very nice hotel and none of these issues really affected our stay.
One of the most beautiful swimming pools ever. Enjoyed the service at the pool for getting snacks and drinks. Wonderful views from the hotel. Simple but very comfortable air conditioned rooms, quiet but still near the centre. Stunning breakfast area/terrace. Reception were friendly and helpful. Solid choice at breakfast of pastries, fruit, eggs (although it would have been nice if there was a toaster). To note though, the views are beautiful because the hotel is high up, and there are quite a few steps and hills to get to the hotel from town. Would absolutely go again.

United KingdomIt was a shame they didn't do evening meals, there was so much unused space in the hotel and it would encourage people to stay at the hotel in the evening , have a drink and enjoy the terrace and the view. Also there was only one very narrow lift and as we were on the sixth floor we needed to use it everyday we often had to wait.
We loved the location, we had a brilliant room with sea view, town and surrounding countryside and of course Mount Etna. The hotel was quite old fashioned but that added to the charm. The staff were really lovely and friendly and treated us with a great deal of respect. We loved the pool, it was lovely and clean and had a waiter service which was brilliant and of course brilliant views of the city etc.

CanadaSTAIRS. MORE STAIRS and remember as you walk back up to the hotel from every dinner the last thing you will do is climb many stairs up the hill beside the Continental. (NOTE TO LADIES: wedges and heels are impractical. Most streets are cobblestones or pebbles in cement. If the hills don't get you then the rough streets will do you and your feet in for good) WIFI did not work in room. Connecting to web required moving laptop / mobile to the lounge area. Ancient elevator was slow. No irons were available for use in room. Apparently this all cement hotel is a fire hazard perhaps??? Instead, accompanied by someone from housekeeping, you go to the 4th floor, step outside and then down an outside staircase that takes you underground into what looks like a staff secret hideaway ...you are looking at stone and dirt and a disassembled washing machine and the iron and ironing board. There you had to iron everything and carry it back to your room...as is common with hotels there were no hangers available to make this task easier. All in all not what we expected in a modern country. If we were in the wilds of Africa yes, but not in Italy.
Close location to Corso Umberto.
