We took the ferry and didn't realize there were a million stairs to get up to the hotel - so make sure you get a porter to bring your bags. We didn't and it was a rough (and sweaty) journey to the hotel.

This was definitely our favorite spot we stayed at during our 10 days in Italy. The hotel itself was beautiful - from the lobby to the terrace to the room. We loved the free wine tasting before dinner and the food at both the buffet and the main restaurant was amazing.

The hotel is very relaxed with easy check in and very comfortable rooms. Like all properties in Positano space is a premium, hence gymnasium and pool are not on offer. The staff are amazing, so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Everything was taken care of from a guest relations perspective with no fuss or drama. This hotel is highly recommended

We loved absolutely everything. Spectacular views, outstanding breakfast, huge size room, very attentive and very helpful staff, location of the hotel, good variety of TV channels, including business channels. It was one of the best experiences we had in the last few years. Definitely coming back and will recommend it to everyone. Huge thank you to all the workers at the hotel for doing a great job!

This hotel is beautifully presented and has lovely views of Positano. The daily breakfast was delicious. It’s a short walk into town. The attached restaurant is very high end and has an amazing terrace with uninterrupted views.

Staff was excellent. Enough were proficient english speakers to be able to explain how things worked. View was outstanding. breakfast was excellent. Room was somewhat small but this was not a very big deal.

Stunning hotel. Has a lift from road down to reception....no stairs. Easy walk from road to beach and port. No need to use stairs if you don't want to. Room was stunning with beautiful views and very clean. Lovely breakfast included. Highly recommend

The property was very beautiful and CLEAN! The staff was fantastic and they were very helpful when we had questions about transportation/about the town. They organized a taxi for us to go to/from Pompeii. They provided great restaurant recommendations. 4-5 minute walk to beach which was nice.

The most amazing hotel we have ever been to! Exceptional service from the moment you walk in, extremely clean, amazing buffet breakfast. Complimentary wine tasting every night from 5-7pm which was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. You couldn’t ask for a better view of Positano!

The room was very expensive for the value. I also wish there was a gym facility or a pool to make the cost more worthwhile.

We loved the view from our hotel room. It was an incredible panoramic vista of the coastline. The breakfast wasn't incredible, but the overall hotel is beautiful and clean. I highly recommend the Il Capitano restaurant.

No cons for this hotel

I rarely leave reviews but I cannot recommend the Hotel Montemare more highly. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, when our travel plans were forced to change last minute due to the inclement weather they ensured we were able to find alternative means of travel to get to our next destination. The daily breakfast was a highlight of our day.
