How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThere were spare pillows and it's close to the ferry port (10 minute drive). But here’s a real red flag, some six weeks before our due arrival I started getting a series of emails purportedly from the hotel asking for payment. I checked with booking.com and, after three attempts, they responded stating do not pay it there is some suspicious activity on the hotel’s account and advising me to change my password. Fast forward to the day after I left the property (I honestly can’t call it a hotel) and I got an email from the owner. It was foul and abusive saying that there was nothing wrong with his internet connection and that he has two-tier ID so could anything possibly go wrong. He clearly doesn’t understand what being hacked is all about! By the same token, don’t use the wifi.
This place was a disgrace with virtually no redeeming features. It was dirty and rundown. Plugs were hanging out of the walls with their wires visible and there was an unpleasant smell of stale, strong tobacco smoke throughout. The bathroom door in my room not only had no lock, but where it should have been there was simply a hole in the door. The owner, who is at least 15 years past retirement age, makes Basil Fawlty look like Mary Poppins! When I first arrived he yelled at me in Italian for parking in a marked parking space outside the hotel then, when he directed me to a parking space in an area of adjacent scrubland he went apoplectic when I parked one side of a car already there when he wanted me to go the other side. I can only say it’s a good job I didn’t understand what he was saying. There is a bar advertised, but it remained closed throughout our stay. No matter, we did not want to spend more time than was absolutely necessary in this appalling dump. The breakfast was barely adequate, mainly sweet offerings gathered round an old hotplate sitting sadly unused in the middle of the breakfast fare. I opened only to find all the inner workings removed. Why leave it there? When we arrived for breakfast, there was someone sitting in the breakfast room smoking so we went outside to some tables and chairs overlooking the scrubland where our car was parked only to find the chairs wet from a leaking air conditioner. Finally, my wife returned a dirty tea cup to the owner who then verbally berated her for doing so. If you want a trip back to the underbelly of 1950’s Italy then fine, otherwise do not go near this place.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and quite spacious. Cleaning was done well every day. The breakfast was decent.
None of the staff spoke English at all, which led to a lot of misunderstandings and even rudeness towards guests. There is a risk of finding ants in your room.

Verified reviewGreat location near the centre of the city as well as the seaside promenade. Staff very kind and helpful, homely atmosphere.
Furnishing in the rooms is a bit out of date and there was an odd smell in the bathroom which really needs at least a basic reconstruction.

Verified reviewI'm pretty much a full time vagabond, so spend most of my life in hotels. These have a habit of blurring into each other in their blandness... this place is refreshingly different though. This appears to be a genuine family run hotel, and everybody I dealt with was really nice, despite the language barrier. My fault, for being a poor linguist. Some other reviews seem a little negative.....but its clean, good WiFi, and comfortable. What more do you need? Central location , massive private car park, pet friendly, good breakfast. I really liked this place, definitely has character.
Could be a little noisy at times.
