Not did not like, but recommend that you have the ability to have some less formal food for dinner as an option through the bar.

The staff were so friendly and attentive. An incredible setting and beautifully appointed rooms.

This place is exceptional. It's like a fairy tale. The grounds, gardens, views, statues, museum, restaurant, pool, church - everything is perfect and beautiful. The room we stayed in is incredible, over the top, chandeliers, wallpaper, curtains everywhere. The bathrooms are beautiful. A rustic yet luxurious historic, fancy, country, stone castle on a hill.

Amazing medieval castle transformed by Pope Julius II into a lush renaissance villa. The staff was super helpful and made us feel literally at home. We travelled with a newborn baby, so they upgraded us to a higher level accommodation so that we all would feel comfortable. Food was beyond amazing, must try ricotta and spinach ravioli! The pool is spacious with picturesque views on Tuscan valleys. Everything breathes history and a small private museum underlies the rich heritage of the family, owning the place for many centuries. We will definitely come again! ❤️

Bathroom was a little small but the rest of our suite was huge so didn't matter too much!

Stunning hotel in beautiful location, mind-blowing food and lovely friendly staff. The pool is gorgeous, ground very well maintained and the history of the place is enchanting. Perfect for couples.

This papal palace should be a wonderful place to stay, full of history. Unfortunately, neither the time nor the money has been put into making this place what it should be by the owners. Our bed was uncomfortable, the place was over-grown so you could not enjoy the wonderful views, stagnant water was a breeding ground for mosquitos, the breakfasts were not even 3* and the chef was trying too hard in the evening. Having stayed at numerous 4 & 5 * hotels over the past 30 years this is a good B&B charging high designer 5*L prices.

Our experience at Relais La Suvera was sublime! It was so peaceful and relaxing and the grounds and hotel are stunning. We treated ourselves to a tasting menu on our first night and enjoyed every single mouthful. The staff were very attentive and welcoming, check-in was a breeze and all facilities were wonderful. We spent the first couple of nights of our honeymoon here and wouldn't hesitate to escape to Relais again!

Third time here and never disappoints. Tranquil oasis, staff very friendly and accommodating. Worth the rate for the breakfast alone. Pool a bit cool at the end of May but some people went in. It's an old castle so don't expect all mod cons. New spa is nice in the cellars and the fitness area is better equipped than I expected. Will go again after some saving up. Great location for trips to Sienna etc.

Grossly understaffed, we were the only ones staying at the hotel, one plucky poor chap had to make the cocktails, then run over to open up the restaurant for us, take our order for breakfast. Also I dont understand with the hotel completely empty, why they gave us one of the grimmest rooms not in the main hotel, but in the annex. Overall the hotel feels faded and dusty and not worthy of the SLH status.

    See above.

The historical Papal Retreat was impressive as a structure as were the grounds and the setting but when looked at carefully the décor, facilities were 'tired' and not meeting my expectations of a designated Small Luxury Hotel of the World.

Rooms are dated (antique furniture) liking them requires a certain taste There is a certain antique furniture smell in the rooms Our room was ok, the junior suite my friend booked was even worse in terms of decoration. No Coffee machine even in suites No work desk even in a large suite Price compared to amenities and the room condition. The hotel definately needs to change its attitude towards decor. Redo the rooms with modern bathrooms and amenities and still use the antiques to preserve the character of the building.

Staff is Nr 1. They were great all the way. They were very friendly and did their best to make the guests happy Rooms spotless clean Pool is excellent Breakfast, Dinner and Lunch all very good. Good wine menu at the main restaurant
