The location of the hotel right on Lake Garda could not be better. Great food especially in the Michelin star fish restaurant

United KingdomFor this review, we wanted to give a little context - we have travelled across the north of Italy for two weeks staying in similar priced / and starred properties. We All in all, we found this hotel wasn’t good value for money. At every opportunity we felt like we were being fleeced for additional extras, for example it was €50 for a cabana by the pool, certain breakfasts eggs were charged at €10 +, Room service was an extra €20 on top of food. We chose to travel by train during the course of our trip, and a word of warning - it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a taxi (there is a huge shortage, with waits up to 2hrs+) from the Splendido to go anywhere (and they know it). To use their shuttle on the rare occasion it was available it is €25 per 10 minutes!!! On one occasion, we found ourselves stranded (2hr walk) and were unable to get back to the hotel after hiring a boat for the day - the staff didn’t seem to care, and didn’t make any effort to help us, this led having us asking locals in cars on the side of the road to ask for a kind stranger to take us home. In the end we had to pay €100 for someone to take us back to the hotel via boat (again a 10 Minute journey) During our stay there were quite a few chippy comments about why we didn’t have a car during our trip (which we felt were quite rude) This sadly meant that we couldn’t explore the local towns because we were literally trapped in the hotel. We had one incident which left a sour taste in our mouths - we pre ordered (the day before) a ‘picnic’ to be made for a boat trip we were going on. It was quite a ordeal, as we were asked to meet with the head waiter to discuss what we wanted, choose our wine from the wine list etc. Maybe we were wrong to assume, however, when staying in a 5* resort paying £££for our stay we expected a lot more than we got the next day….
The hotel was modern, and the pool and spa facilities were great. Breakfast options were exceptional. The staff at the pool were fantastic and super friendly, as were the majority of the restaurant staff we encountered during our trip. We were upgraded to a bigger suite during our stay, great bed and shower room.

Staff in reception were great, breakfast excellent, the setting was lovely. Our room was spacious with a lake view. Some nice touches around the pool with drinks and cold towels. Pool area had great lounges, with the lake a footstep away.

United KingdomThe decking around the pool is a little loose in places; also it has been painted/dyed dark, making it almost impossible to stand or walk on during a hot sunny day. The loose pieces, although often repaired, could lead to an accident, trip or fall. Long term, the pool surrounds will need replacing at some point; it's the one thing that lets the place down.
Rooms were nicely designed and fitted out, high quality and very modern. The bathrooms were also very nice. The restaurants were good; the service was also very good. Food may be a little fancy for some younger dinners. The pool was nice but a little tired looking in places. The service was very good. The overall nice facility we would happily stay there again, and I'm sure we will do it.

At the Splendido Bay Luxury Spa Resort, we enjoyed a wonderful and lavish breakfast with a view of Lake Garda's beach, as well as dinners at the nearby Osteria, where we always appreciated the highly professional service and the fabulous food accompanied by expertly served Franciacorta bubbles.

United States of AmericaThe area was filled with mosquitoes. Not just our hotel, but all along the lake. The hotel placed a mosquito repellent device in our room and we had zero issues. Note this is a dog friendly hotel and therefore was overrun with dogs. Normally not a problem, but annoying to see guests seating dogs on chairs at the restaurant table so the dog can eat from a plate on the table.
Beautiful location and stunning property. Absolutely superior service. The staff was wonderfully helpful and attentive without exception. The front desk personnel and concierge were especially responsive. The restaurants were fabulous. Great breakfast. Top notch wine list, terrific bar. Highly recommend.

NetherlandsThere is a visible fungus in the grooves of the bathtub or on the silicone. It can be easily removed with special bathroom chemicals, but seeing this in such a nice hotel is not nice.
Great stuff, beautiful lobby with a good choice of cocktails and high-quality coffee. Stuff friendly and helpful. Wonderful spa, available with small kids in the morning and early afternoon. Very good breakfast with a wide selection of cooked food, fresh berries, fruits, various kinds of cheese, ham, and fish. Fresh bread. All perfect.
