Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Parts of the hotel would benefit from some renovations.
The great staff made the stay so much more enjoyable. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a lot of tips about sightseeing and helped with a trip to Mount Etna. We used the bar a lot too - many thanks to Antonio who was very friendly and made the happy hour so worthwhile. We also liked the location as it was close to the metro station, lots of restaurants and the sites we wanted to visit.

The hotel Wifi signal kept falling off.
The location is minutes walk from the historic area of Catania and Stesicoro station on the metro. At the same time it is less than 15 mins walk from the main railway station. My room was very quiet and it was cleaned every day. Breakfast was extensive with cereal, fresh fruit, various breads, meat and pastries. I never left hungry ! The staff were friendly and helpful when I wanted information about the town.

Two negatives about the room. Be warned that (in our case) 3 out of the 4 available electrical sockets were at floor level under a long writing desk; to access them ,kneel or squat and then realise that you need a torch because you’re in your own light….. The towels, whilst clean and replaced promptly, were showing signs of wear and age, and reminded me of visiting elderly relatives intent on exercising financial restraint.
We had a large airy room, with a high ceiling adorned with decorative plaster work. Ample space, but sadly only one chair where there was space for two.Hotel quiet overall. Reception staff friendly and helpful. An easy walk to central streets for shopping , sightseeing and restaurants.

If you stay at the bottom floor you can hear the neighbour upstairs walking or moving the furniture.
The bar was great, breakfast great! Antonio, the guy from the bar is very friendly and definetly made our stay better! Thank you, Antonio!

The short guy with the glasses in the breakfast, he was not nice and rude, on our first day at 1030 as i was still chewing ,he came very dramatically and said: breakfast is over you need to leave. - like that ,no sorry or just letting us stay till we finish while stop serving, really wired and unpleasant person,
Great location and lovely personell in the reception. Breakfast was super good and lots of options to choose from. Room was clean

While the street outside was a tad lively, it was a small price to pay for being in the vibrant heart of the city center.
Nice hotel, not far from the Courthouse (where I needed to be). Marco, the barman, was very friendly and opened the hotel bar even though he had just closed it, to serve me with a glass of wine. My room boasted a soaring ceiling adorned with exquisite décor, while its furnishings exuded an air of elegance. Breakfast had some local specialties that are worth returning to this hotel for!

There was no seating on the terrace, the gym had water on the floor and sockets hanging out the wall and was unusable, our room was clean but the en suite was grubby

A good hotel, modern and functional. Had a room on two levels (bedroom downstairs, living and bathroom upstairs) and a big balcony towards the street. Rich and varied breakfast buffet.

Unfortunately I could not sleep at all because of the noise from the street so I felt really ill the next day. It’s the centre of Catania and almost New Year so some noise can be expected however even with ear plugs the yelling and explosions were really loud all night.
Everything at Romano house is of the highest standard, the building is impressive, the room a really great size. The staff is amazing, welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast rich and delicious.
