Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Loved the air-conditioning especially since it is August! It was clean and there was constant communication. The ammenities were good too.

Ruanera was an excellent choice as a solo traveler. It is right at the center of Catania which makes everything easily accessible by foot, including the bus station that takes you to the airport and the beach. Federico kindly received me and explained everything about the accommodation. The Sicilian Cafe next to the building is delicious, so check it out. Recommendation for future guests: If your flight is delayed or you will arrive later than expected, inform the accommodation so that you don’t keep them waiting. Federico was very kind and reached out to make sure I didn’t have issues finding the accommodation. I would stay here again.

I had an issue with my room, which was taken care of immediately, I was impressed with just how quickly. There is a lift that takes you to the correct floor. However, you then walk down a flight of stairs and back up a flight of stairs. Entering the accommodation through a garage.
The location was absolutely perfect. Federico couldn't do enough to help. The room was beautifully appointed, everything has been thought of, great lighting, mirrors, shower, bed, etc... and the balcony was lovely of an evening. The kitchen was well thought through. I will gladly stay here each time I visit Catania.

Our room was great! Everything is new and clean. The best thing about the place is the location. It's in the middle of Catania and a great location to explore the city. Room itself was very comfortable for two people for 3 nights. Federico was also very helpful, as he let us leave our luggage at Ruanera for a few hours after check out. I would definitelly recommend it.

Great location, close to centre and attractions. Room very comfortable especially beds. Air conditioning worked brilliantly and was very quiet. Very clean. Lovely kitchen available for guest use. Federico was very helpful too. Lift worked too. Highly recommended

The location was perfect and the room was pleasant, comfortable and clean. Right around the corner from the Duomo. Federico was so helpful and communicative throughout our stay. We loved our stay at Ruanera and highly recommend. Bonus to have an elevator for luggage.

It is a top notch place. Excellent location in the city center. Restaurants, shops are steps away, yet very quiet in the apartment without street noise. The apartment has an elevator, a huge plus for us with luggage! Also, there is a fish market nearby, amazing fresh seafood. Couldn’t help you buy some and cooked it at the apartment. :) The host was super helpful, very communicative, helped a lot with our requests, especially questions on public transportation. He also offered us affordable rides to and from the train station we needed to go. Overall, a great place with great service.

Perfect location- right in the city center, close to the bus stop at piazza Borsellino, a coffee shop next to the entrance. It was very clean. The host was so nice. He let us check in earlier and we left our bags there after check out time, so that was great. And as we are travelling with a child, I loved that there was a single bed for her and not the usual sofa bed.

The property was really clean and was placed in the centre of Catania. You can reach all of the famous spots by walking. The host was very kind and thoughtful. The room was fascinating and the balcony was our favourite part. We will definitely come back to this place and recommend it to our friends.

It is situated in the historical center of Catania. Very comfortable and quiet. There are parking options on the street, paying by parkomats.

Perfect location, close to the main monuments, 5 -min walk to the local bus station, close to many restaurants. Very polite host, who is ready to assist you for everything. The rooms are very clean and quiet.

We were able to check in early. Owner was quick to reply to my questions. Gave a wonderful recommendation for dinner. Unit was very close to city centre. Very clean. Has a well stocked shared kitchen available. I highly recommend Ruanera.

The ruanera is situated in the downtown area of Catania with many restaurants and stores nearby. It is a good place to start exploring Catania, many interesting places are in walking distance, and we found nice places to eat and have coffee. The room was in an old palazzo, with high ceilings, a little balcony, a comfortable bathroom, and the lighting was luxurious. Federico, our host, helped us with all questions we had and made sure we were comfortable.

Even though we didn't meet Federico in person, he responded to us immediately whenever needed. Our room was immaculate, charming, and comfortable. Federico even managed to find last minute taxi driver to airport when we couldn't.
