How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

I wish the kitchenette had a microwave, and that housekeeping didnt enter the room when theres a DND sign.

Room had very dusty surfaces and under furniture. Room faced the street which was loud throughout the night. Also, no ability to hang longer clothes (eg dresses) in closet

Verified reviewWe had a great stay at Sentho Roma. Our room was very spacious, with lots of storage, and a chic and updated bathroom. Our room also had a balcony, where we enjoyed a coffee each afternoon. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was excellent. Not to mention, the hotel is a short walk to both the train station and major sites, like the Colosseum. Highly recommend!

Verified reviewI am sorry to say that unfortunately my stay in Rome at The Sentho was entirely spoiled by a disgusting, awkward, embarrassing and unacceptable occurrence that took place on the last day of my stay, for which I uderstand The Sentho should be held accountable and liable for the inconvenience and bother caused to my wife by the housekeeper lady. To the facts: 1. She literally broke into the room while my wife was changing her clothes, claiming she had to clean the room and pick up the garbage baskets and, the worst of all, she remained in the room for some time despite my wife asking her insitently to leave right away. When she finally did it, she left the door open. 2. Three personal belongings of my wife disapeared from the room. They were of small value but unacceptable anyway. Last but not least: the cleaning of the room was very, very poor. The floor was not cleaned not even once. Useless to proceed with the review. Sincerely, Antonio Persechini
Dear Antonio, We're truly sorry to see such a harsh review after spending so many days with us. Regarding the Housekeeping colleague who entered without knocking, we're at least surprised that the matter wasn't reported that morning during breakfast, but only in the evening, shortly before checkout. As soon as it was reported, we immediately contacted our team to determine if any kind of intrusion had occurred, but it seems at least strange that such a "disgusting, embarrassing, and unacceptable" incident wasn't reported to the Reception staff immediately, as soon as it occurred. We regret having to point this out and would never doubt the word of one of our valued guests, but we are, to say the least, deeply touched and hurt, as a young, enthusiastic, and passionate team. Regarding the theft accusation leveled against our Housekeeping, the evening you brought it to our attention, we immediately investigated the matter with the staff who had cleaned your rooms that day and we obviously received a negative response about it. We'd like to point out that they were the same staff who had cleaned your rooms all the previous days. It seems a bit strange that on the very last day of your departure, several items went missing from all three rooms. We would also like to point out that to apologize for this alleged oversight, we've decided to offer you the € 70.00 in cocktails that you would have paid at check-out. Furthermore, on the day of your check-out, we found several forgotten items in your rooms, and we're still working on returning them, everything, even a small cellphone cord we found on the ground. Regarding the cleanliness of the rooms, we regret to say that it was, to say the least, impossible to achieve it during your stay with us: all three rooms were left extremely dirty every day. We found stained sofas, dirty duvets (one of them obviously placed in a different place from where it’s normally left, namely on the floor under the bed), metal cutlery borrowed from our breakfast room left in the trash can, and food left everywhere, even in inappropriate places (like pasta in a teacup). We're truly sorry to say publicly certain things, but we're a young and enthusiastic team who puts passion and heart into everything we do, and we care about telling the truth about things that don't reflect reality. Verified reviewGiven it’s a 3 star boutique hotel, it’s fairly clean, really aesthetically pleasing, well located with easy access to everything in Rome. Staff were nice, friendly, and very easy to communicate with. Room is spacious with a good selection of tea in the room. AC is strong which is nice after a long day out in the heat.
Turkey was unavailable for our breakfast but it was not removed from the breakfast menu for the first two days. I ordered turkey two days in a row, the kitchen did not inform me about the shortage but they substituted it with bacon/ham. They only apologised when I brought it up on the second day. It makes me wonder if I didn’t bring it up on the second day, they would’ve not mentioned it at all just like the first day. On top of that, there was no other compensation for changing my breakfast without telling me and I still had to pay the amended order. Another thing is there was no “do not disturb” card you can hang on the door handle when I checked in. They only left the card in the room after the cleaning lady opened our door without knocking at 8am one day. But the staff apologised on her behalf.
