How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewA modern, very well equipped, very clean apartment in the atmospheric Brera district, 200 meters from the Pinacoteca... a 15 minutes walk to the Duomo... an ideal location for exploring Milan. Restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops are all around. Communication with the owner was excellent. Best regards, Andrea.

Verified reviewLocation is fantastic
Parking is not included, though this apartment appeared as if it did with the booking filters. Street parking is only allowed for the day, thus was obliged to pay an extra 44 euros for private parking. The apartment was bland. Water was rougher than usual. Communication with staff could have been better, other agents made the effort to contact and show details prior to check-in. Amenities felt dated.
The rudest guest we’ve had in the past 10 years. He failed to read the listing on Booking and insisted on getting free parking, even though it was clearly not included. He changed his arrival time five times at his convenience, completely ignoring my initial request to schedule a check-in appointment, and eventually showed up well past the latest check-in time, refusing to pay the late check-in fee, which he was fully aware of. He was also extremely rude when refusing to show his ID to our staff member. His other complaints about the apartment are entirely unfounded, as clearly shown by the reviews left by other guests. This includes his claim of a lack of communication — I messaged him repeatedly both via chat and WhatsApp starting the day before his arrival.

Verified reviewGreat location. Excellent host support. Well equipped although we did not spend much time inside given that there so much to do on our doorstep.
No gripes.

Verified reviewThe location is absolutely perfect! It’s situated in a lovely neighborhood, close to most of the main attractions, with plenty of shops and restaurants just a short walk away. We really enjoyed staying in this area — it had everything we needed within easy reach.
One small thing to note is that there wasn’t a microwave in the kitchen, which we personally rely on quite a bit for breakfast. However, this might not be an issue for most guests, as the property is well-equipped with an oven and stovetop that can be used to prepare meals. So while it wasn’t a major inconvenience, it’s just something to keep in mind depending on your cooking habits.

Verified reviewLocation is great. The apartment is clean and cozy.
Loud outside especially on the weekends (since it’s the “bar/restaurant” area). To replace hair dryer and add an umbrella would be nice👍🏻

Verified reviewGreat little apartment, tastefully furnished and with every comfort, including a fully operational kitchen if required. Perfect central location. Friendly and uncomplicated host.
Unfortunately a bit noisy due to the paving of the street outside.

The neighbours above us played children’s nursery rhymes until late. Their children constantly ran across the floor, at all times of the day and night, which made loads of noise.
Thank you for appreciating our fantastic location! We’re sorry that the behavior of the neighbors affected your stay, though unfortunately, this is something beyond our control. Our building is part of a historic district, one of the most beautiful and vibrant in Milan, where the energy of historic architecture blends with everyday life. Many guests love this authentic atmosphere, and we hope to welcome you again in the future!

Verified reviewThe location of the house is magnificent. In Brera, where there are beautiful streets and shops. On the corner, among restaurants and cafes. At the beginning of the street, 2 buildings next to it, there is a baker for a wonderful breakfast. There is a market right on the corner and it is open until 11. The house is spotless, the furnishings are new and modern, the kitchen is very clean, the furnishings are sufficient.

Verified reviewSpacious apartment, very clean and comfortable bed. Host was very helpful.
It was on a busy street that was noisy til about 3am. And the windows didn’t really block out much sound.
We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. Our apartment is situated in one of Milan’s most vibrant areas, renowned for its nightlife. However, it’s also located on a one-way street with limited traffic, especially during the night. The building itself dates back to the 1800s, so while it has plenty of charm, the soundproofing is understandably limited. Unfortunately, this is one of the trade-offs of staying in such a central and beautiful part of the city.
