The hotel makes nothing of its location, although a sea view terrace appears to be under construction. The room was stuffy and operating the aircon required special type of qualification!

Next to a very narrow stony beach but a long way from sandy beaches - with children it meant driving the car somewhere else rather than walking ten paces to the beach there . This is location rather than any issue with the hotel itself . Breakfast was average . Fee very local restaurants .

It was a shame the restaurant was closed (open in high season), but with a number of restaurants nearby, not the end of the world.

A really nice weekend on the Italian coast. The staff at the hotel were amazing, so helpful and knowledgeable. The 1+ bus takes you from the train station to right outside. The hotel is in a nice location, only a couple of mins from a small shopping centre and a number of bars/restaurants 10 mins walk along the coast. With surfers in the sea and huge ships on the horizon, the terrace is a great place to sit and watch the world splash by. Pool is also in a suntrap, so lovely to sit there and read. Hotel faces West- don't miss the spectacular sunsets!

The staff couldn’t have been any nicer. The girls at reception desk were so accommodating and obliging throughout our stay. We arrived early to the hotel and the lady (never got her name!) let us check into our room 2 hours early. Later on that evening she wrote down a list of restaurants and specific areas that we she recommended for us to try which was a really nice touch. On our final night we spoke to the manager of the hotel who was also really chatty and helpful. Breakfast was so nice and plentiful. Pool was beautiful and clean. Cute, little cafe/bar beside the pool that is perfect for some poolside snacks, or an evening drink. The barman here was such a gentleman, so accommodating and friendly. Great location, walking distance to numerous restaurants. Spoilt for choice with beaches, stone beach just outside the hotel that is the perfect place to relax. The hotel itself is so beautiful, a restored building which is full of character and tastefulness. We were sad to leave Hotel Universal and could not recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a slow, relaxed, change of pace. The price is such good value also.

It's a little farther from places we were from and fun transportation we needed. We had some trouble getting there at night and leaving the next day. Whenever we return, we will be sure to have a car. 😌

The hotel is gorgeous and well kept. The view from every window is breathtaking. The building is well preserved without being stuffy or ancient. Everyone in the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. When we mentioned being gluten intolerant, they made up a cute breakfast basket for us, with lots of gf products. Very thoughtful! They also recommended several restaurants to us. One that we went to had amazing gf pizza. Yum! They recommended transportation to us when we left for the train station.

Very beautiful hotel outside Livorno. Excellent rooms in an old Villa on the ocean. Nice breakfast, great pool with very nice people. Will definitly come back. Good location to start trips to Pisa, Firence or other locations in tuscany. Supermarkt nearby, few restaurants as well

There weren't any things I didn't like, even though I'm quite picky about places to stay.

The staff was extremely helpful answering every single question I had, being patient and polite, even though I was going to stay for one night. I would stay for 2 more, but it was fully booked. Nevertheless I was able to see the sea, which is just behind the hotel and I want to say that the sunset was absolutely amazing ! I would recommend this place to couples, because it's 100 per cent romantic.
