Welcoming, clean, wonderful staff, big rooms with balcony, walking distance to town

Breakfast . No bread or toaster. not a very good range of food for international travellers. No fresh fruit or cereal.

Manager and staff are wonderful, nothing was to much trouble. Good understanding of English which made it much easier for us. We asked to change our booking from a quad share to 2 double rooms the day before and it was all organized when we arrived. We had a gorgeous four posted bed. Lovely greeting. Complementary refreshments and Manager/owner introduced and made himself known to us. This is our 2nd time we have stayed here and would with no trouble stay again.

There was a great restaurant (La Veccia Maccina) in Bovalino.

What a mistake...the broken down car in the carpark should have warned me! Bovalino Marina is a shabby, crumbling, rubbish strewn town with unfinished buildings, refuse, cracked pavements and weeds! The Hotel is a vast dying edifice - nowhere remotely near the 5 star they claim! We waited 4 hrs for them to (unsuccessfully) try and fix the tv and internet. There was no hot water, pipework pressure noise, no aircon (even though the manager at the desk blatantly lied and said all was working) dusty corridors, peeling damp paintwork in the stairwell, last season's leaves on the terrace - the worst hotel we've ever stayed at! This pace looks like its gone bankrupt! When I demanded a refund the owner refused to appear (I saw him in the office!) and the manager said that the Booking.com contract wouldn't allow a refund...even though I reminded him that the hotel hadn't met it's side of the agreement! We left in disgust. Be warned about reviews and flashy pics - this hotel is awful and the management are so untypical of Italian hotels and Calabrian people. I challenge the mangement to refute any of this honest review.

There was a great restaurant (La Veccia Maccina) in Bovalino...albeit across a very busy road.

The very warm welcome and personal attention. They were very keen to please and did their very best to please in every way. The food was really excellent. Top notch. Nothing we could criticise at all.. Excellent facilities and position too.

The pool, fitness centre, solarium and roof garden that were advertised were not open in low season. The only place you could get wifi was in a dark corridor behind reception. The breakfast was poor for a 5 star hotel.

The staff were very friendly and tried their best.
