Sunny and very comfortable apartment in a central location close to everything. We had a wonderful view of the valley below the city. The communication with our host was excellent and check in was a snap. This is a great value stay and we wish we had stayed more than 1 night. Highly recommend.

A nice little apartment close to the historic centre of Mottola, with a super friendly host. The kids slept in an upstairs mezzanine level above the main double bed, under a vaulted stone ceiling, in this lovely renovated building. The only drawback was the heat - the air conditioning is good, but somehow it was hard to find the right temperature: either the downstairs was freezing or the mezzanine was roasting, so none of us slept that well! But everyone in Mottola was very friendly (I don't think they get many foreign tourists), and the prices were incredibly low (a small beer for Euro 1.20) and our stay was lovely.

A lovely stay and attentive hosts

My wife wasn't unable to lock the door by herself as it is necessary to push the door hard in order to lock it (it's time to change the lock either door hinges). Kitchen pots are outdated (inner surface of frying pan and pot are Teflon coated but scratched, it does makes dangerous to health) and, please, needs to be changed. And the last note, which is not related to the Aparthotel: despite we found the market very nearly, the fruits we got from local sellers (farmers?) wasn't as fresh and juicy as we expected. We couldn't ask the reason as we don't speak Italian so far.

We choose Villaggio Vecchia Mottola for 3 night stay becouse it looked (so and it is) warm and cozy and offered the best location for our plans: in reasonable distance from airport and close to two UNESCO World Heritage sites of South Italy located just a bit out of the way for those driving to the beaches of Salento: a) Aparthotel is located in 77 km (~1 hour driving) away from Bari airport (BRI), while Brindisi airport (BDS) is 99 km away. b) Close to the historic city of Matera (47 km) - as it’s such a unique and enchanting place, we suggest you to plan to spend there no less than a full day. c) Close to Alberobello (33 km) and Locorotondo (36 km) - both perfect fits for one day trip (Length: 80 km round trip or 1 hour 30 min of driving in total). Matera is a unique and fascinating town steeped in history. It’s one of the most unique and spectacular places we’ve visited in Italy or anywhere in the world. In 1993 the town was made a UNESCO World Heritage site, for being "the most outstanding, intact example of a troglodyte settlement in the Mediterranean region, perfectly adapted to its terrain and ecosystem". Locorotondo is a pretty hilltop town in Puglia, southern Italy, takes its name from its round shaped historic centre and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Locorotondo is a labyrinth of whitewashed buildings and luckily it's very near to next UNESCO World Heritage site - Alberobello, famous for its trulli: white, cone-roofed houses and makes a good stop on a tour of the area. Villaggio Vecchia Mottola is also located very near to Mottola main square, where you may find restaurants and many locals communicating till late at night. However there no problem with the noise from the street as the rooms are located just few corners away from the square in quiet place of the downtown, next to the church. The WiFi is available in the room and is free of charge, the same as an bottle of chilled water - grazie mille!

There was no internet. And there are no plans of making it. So why is it listed in the offer and booking confirmation? If I hadn't had a mobile internet I'd be quite angry about that. Bathroom a bit scruffy compared to the rest of the apartment - but still not bad.

Just stunning interior (pics added). Good price/quality ratio.

The place was wonderful and really authentic and clean, very nice furnished. Osvaldo, our host was probably the most kindest person in whole Puglia. He was very polite, made us feel special, always available for us, he gave us good advises for places in Mottola. We were really pleased to be serviced by him.

The host was very very nice and gave us a lot of tips and hints. We stayed in the very small apartment directly in the center, it was a very cute place and very comfortable. The only negative thing was the super small and not good working shower and the smell in the bathroom. It was clean, but a bit smelly as there is no window in the bathroom (old house). The location was perfect. Over all, very recommendable.
