How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe room is spacious and comfy. The bathroom and the room were very clean, the same for kitchen. There's a supermarket in the same building and a lot of bus stops around the apartament, just outside. As a woman travelling alone I felt very safe :) Highly recommend!

Verified reviewGood location, 15 min by walk to the center. Close to all kinds of places to eat, a supermarket just next door. Quiet room, nice design, big bathroom.
Almost impossible to park on the street, we must park in a parking garage for 18 euros a day.
Thanks for review, I'm sorry that the rating was not the highest despite all the positive points highlighted. Unfortunately, parking in the centre of Trieste may not be easy, but it isn't a problem attributable to us.

Verified reviewThe accomodation was only a few minutes of walking from the city centre. Very close to all amenities and public transportation. Very good communication with owner Andrea.
Cleaning was to be done every 3 days, which didn't. However, Andrea sent someone to clean the apartment as soon as I informed him.
Thanks for review, I'm glad you appreciated the excellent location of the room. We organise cleaning every 3/4 days depending on the work of the cleaning girl, we are not a hotel and don't provide cleaning and changes every day.

Verified reviewThe room was spotlessly clean! It looked as of I was the first guest ever to stay there. It was impressive. Also, the room did not get any noticeable noise from the street, and was quiet which allowed me to get good nights' sleep, The bed was very comfortable as well. But what made all the difference was the flexibility and kindness of host, Andrea. She allowed me to check-in almost a couple of hours earlier, and allowed me check-out almost a couple of hours later than the official checkout time without any extra charge (which I offered). Andrea never said no and went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. In addition, the location was fantastic - walking distance from everything essential. The grocery store was literally right next door. Pharmacy was a few hundred feet away. The bus stop was right across. There were a lot of stores of all kinds and cafes within a short distance. I will love to stay here again during any future visits.
A microwave, either in the room or in the common area, would have been nice but was a minor inconvenience.

Verified reviewThe location suited our needs absolutely perfectly. Right in the center of old Town with lots of souvenir shops, Pubs & restaurants within a block or two. Supermarket in the same block & just across the street. All within walking distance. Close to the Harbour and car rental.
"Accessible by lift" but the six stairs to get to the lift was not mentioned. It's always difficult when you are disabled and have to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter and you're not prepared.

Verified reviewOur hosts were very helpful before, during and after our stay. They worked closely with us to ensure that we could get the access code before we left home. The room and bath were clean and had fresh towel and linen. We were going on a cruise and our host assisted us in getting a taxi scheduled to take us to the ship because our phones were not operational. The location was close to plenty of choices of restaurants and shopping. It was centrally located so we could walk to all places we wanted to see.

Verified reviewMy family and I had a great time at this pet-firendly Trieste apartment. It was well-equipped with everything we needed and two bathrooms were a nice bonus, saving us from any shower queues. The AC worked flawlessly, and though the city center was a bit far, having Coop and Spar supermarkets on our street was really convenient. The nearby parking made beach trips easy. Overall, a comfortable stay with all the essentials. Highly recommended!
The balcony overlooked the uninspiring backyard of nearby apartment buildings, with no enjoyable view. Furthermore, the space was nearly taken up by AC output units, limiting its use. The apartment's information mentioned cleaning every three days, yet it took almost a week and a complaint about dwindling supplies for any cleaning to occur. This lack of attention extended to the provision of basic items like toilet paper and a kettle. Despite assurances, our request for a kettle was unaddressed. Also the very tiny and uncomfortable lift, seemed like a reminiscent of the 19th century.

Verified reviewIt is very well located. Close enough to the city center. The room was really nice and very clean. The air conditioning worked fine. The building has two elevators, which is not common in Trieste. Amazing quality/price ratio. My room was fiori di vaniglia. The bed maybe is not super big (for me was fine as I was alone).
