Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeThe breakfast timing was not good. Breakfast ended so early. It would be great if the breakfast time could be extended to 10 am. Plus the staff cleaned up all the food even before 9 am. That was an uncomfortable experience, especially with the amount that we paid.
The location was good, right outside the Hell Valley. The view was awesome and the various types of hot baths were extremely interesting. We really enjoyed the grand bath, and the comfort of dining inside the room.

United StatesI have been wanting to stay at this hotel since my last trip to Japan where I made a day trip to Noboribetsu and used a day pass for the Onsen. The Onsen is tattoo friendly and beautiful with both many indoor and outdoor baths with various mineral properties. I loved how close it was to both the downtown area and Jigokudani. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel offered many activities for children and there was an arcade which my daughter and I had a great time at.

SingaporeThere are a number of onsen pools to try but the facility looks dated. There is also option to purchase day pass to the onsen if you are not staying in the hotel.
We stayed in the South Building and was allocated to a room in the highest floor. We got a half-board plan with buffet dinner and breakfast. There is a good variety of options including sashimi and snow crab for dinner. Room is spacious and clean.

United StatesCheck in time was quite strict, to the point where our room was ready, but we were told to wait 20 minutes until the keycard activated at exactly 2pm. That being said, there were plenty of places to sit, shop, and lounge on the lobby floor.
The best location for the Hell Festival (last weekend of August). Perched upon the main street, in walking distance to main street shops as well as Hell Valley trails. The room is spacious. The ryokan itself impressive and vast with a souvenir shop, restaurants, amusement (karaoke and more, for a cost). The “spa” or onsen includes an indoor section with multiple stations (salt, waterfall muscle thingy, walking river, sauna, steam, cold plunge) and multiple outdoor baths. The smell of the natural sulfur heated springs meets the forest air. Reminiscent of natural adventures in Hakone, Fuji, Iceland, etc. You can take a 20-ish min bus from Noboribetsu station and end up a few minutes’ walk from the hotel entrance. The breakfast buffet has everything you could ever want, in good quality.

SingaporeThere are only 3 restaurants open for dinner, so each one will have a long queue. It's better to book breakfast and dinner with the hotel when you book.
Very good for Onsen experience, the room is big and clean, staffs are friendly as well.

Francethose are no downsides since we knew before booking but just for info: - the hotel is absolutely huge. Building is very big, probably hundreds of customers - south wing was maybe 5min walk from the onsen (we did not care) - windows: possible to block morning light with the wooden pan, however keep in mind that room won’t be 100% dark (we did not care, had to wake up for breakfast)
- Many big onsen with different waters, including outside bath. Very clean. There is even a little cold bath to walk in circle for blood circulation - the evening buffer for dinner was excellent, so many delicious things (we were happy to pick the buffet option instead of private dinner) - cute yukata to walk around -The hotel is very close to the noboribetsu valley (very easy to walk there) -Reception was efficient and someone spoke perfect English - we stayed in the south wing, which was clean and reasonably modern

United StatesAmazing grand baths facing hell valley. Within close walking distance of Hell Valley. Greatly enjoyed walking in this area of the national park. There is also a public pool and kiddie pool, which my baby greatly enjoyed. They have swimsuit rental available if you forgot your swimsuit. Breakfast buffet was fully booked so we were unable to try it but we ate at the apex bakery/cafe next door, which was very good. We did have the dinner buffet one night and were very satisfied, with a great selection of sashimi and crabs legs. Will definitely be back!

NetherlandsThe ceiling and windows are affected by the hot water. It looks a bit dirty because of it.
Great location with different onsens, even peak season don’t feel crowded at all. Nice swimming pool with slides for kids. Arcade and souvenir shop in the hotel. Tatami and kaiseki experience were great. Nearby several trials to explore surrounding with nice views.

Falkland Islands (Malvinas)Absolutely nothing
Staying at this hotel was the highlight of our trip to Japan. It was our first onsen experience, so I was a bit nervous about the rules and etiquette, but in the end, we enjoyed every minute of it. There are so many baths to choose from, and all the areas are very well maintained. My partner mentioned that the men’s side had a beautiful view of Hell Valley—you can actually sit in the bath and take it all in. We used the onsen early in the morning and late at night, so it never felt crowded. I also really appreciated that they provided a full range of shampoos and skincare products to use after your soak. Our room was on the main building, it was spacious and spotlessly clean. Since we stayed two nights, they let us know they would clean the room at 11 a.m. on our second day. We left at 10:55 and returned briefly at 11:25 to grab something—and by then, the entire room and bathroom were already cleaned, everything replaced, and even new sets of yukatas laid out. I couldn’t believe how fast and efficient they were! If you're planning to visit Noboribetsu, I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The others didn’t look nearly as nice from the outside and didn’t seem to offer much in terms of views. This one is absolutely worth every penny.
