Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBit tired internally, and breakfast whilst good choice got quite repetitive for 5 days.
Amazing location for Shibuya and Harajuku, and the relevant train connections for the rest of Tokyo.

IndiaI was not too happy with the staff as they were not very pro active to solve some issues. I had requested for a room change as i can't take the sound of the train passing. But that never happened.
I liked the location. I liked the spa experience. Free ice cream and drinks. :)

AustraliaDon’t think I stayed long enough not like something. Everything was just fine for me
The staff were very friendly and helpful when needed! The property was nice and clean, and the layout of the room was good. Although the rooms can be a bit tiny (as expected in Japan) I still have enough room to manoeuvre around. My room was on the same floor as the private bath and sauna, so I felt lucky to have such easy access. The bath and sauna were very clean, and the powder room was also aesthetic and comfortable to wind down in after the hot bath and sauna.

United States of AmericaThe location off the Meiji-Dori (major avenue) is excellent. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Harajuku train station and about a 15 minute walk to the Shibuya train station. There are lots of restaurants and convenience stores in the area. Trendy "Cat Alley" is just across the Meiji-Dori. The breakfast is very good, offering both western and Japanese offerings. There is a fresh cooked omelette/egg station. The rooms are small, but have a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker. They provide pajamas, tooth brushes, razors. The bed and pillows are firm, which we like. The only negative about the room is the noise from the frequently passing trains from 5A - 1A. Our room had a view of the train tracks. We stayed at the hotel on 3 consecutive weekends and appreciated having the use of a U.S. styled washer and dryer during our 3 stays. There is also separate men and women's baths. We didn't use this amenity. This is not a luxury hotel, but it is convenient, comfortable, basic and a good value for the location.

United KingdomThe room was very small with limited room for a few suitcases. However this is quite common in Japan and it was only slightly smaller than rooms we stayed in elsewhere in the country.
Great location, really friendly and helpful staff and a really good traditional and western breakfast. Sauna / spa was a bonus too.

United KingdomThe rooms are very small, so pack/prepare accordingly. They pack a lot of utility into the small space, but as a couple with a decent amount of luggage (for a 3 week trip around Japan) we struggled with the size. This wasn't a huge issue, as we set our expectations for it just to be a 'place to sleep' after busy days exploring Tokyo, and it definitely served that purpose.
A lovely little hotel in an extremely convenient location (between shopping in Shibuya and nightlife in Shinjuku). Breakfast was lovely; the hotel is clean and modern, and the staff are super helpful (even with a slight language barrier). Highly recommended - this hotel is amazing value for the price!

AustraliaSmall rooms but that’s ok! The only major issue was the bedding was seriously uncomfortable, one really flat pillow and hard bed. It would really deter me from booking again, otherwise it would have been a big win! :(
Amazing location! Could not be better. Nice and safe place.

AustraliaIt was quite difficult to find the hotel entrance as it is basically in an ally off the street, also our room overlooked the railway line.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was much roomier than I was expecting considering our location. The laundry facilities were useful. We really enjoyed the french toast for breakfast.

AustraliaThe double room was quite small (normal in Japan) especially compared to the kids twin room. Would book twin rooms in the future
It was easier to find than I originally thought being located between 2 main JR stations with a metro even closer. Even though it was by railway line it was quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The late night ramen was also appreciated.

This was a great hotel for our first visit to Tokyo -- it's very central to Shibuya and Harajuku, two neighborhoods that we were excited to check out. It's easily walkable to a lot of great sights, shops, and restaurants, and it's close to a couple train stations. The room was comfortable and quiet and the staff was very helpful when it came to making dinner reservations and calling a cab. Overall we had a very nice stay!

United States of AmericaThe bed. See above. Expanded on my reason for disliking the bed.
The location was great. I could get to areas of interest fairly quickly. The room was OK, but my biggest problem was the bed. It was very uncomfortable; the mattress was too firm, and the pillow too thin. I would have loved to have a TV with YouTube access. The breakfast was great.

United States of AmericaI actually liked it but if you want a room that you can chill in and like hang with friends in the Dormy Inn (from my experience) may not be for you. It can seem tiny according to Westerners standards but personally I like it. I loved the fact that it was compact and really only had the essentials. But some people may not like that but hey we all like different things I guess 🤷♂️
I loved the fact that it was near a very prominent part of the city without it being a super noisy stay. The price was great and overall would recommend it to others who either travel alone or with a group (and want to save money).

United States of AmericaAs for negatives — The room itself was really beginning to show its age. Surfaces appeared worn. There was a fuze box near the ceiling that appeared broken and halfway falling off. The refrigerator cabinet door cover had a loose hinge and had to be wrestled shut. The TV was pretty small by today's standards. The shower room had a faint mildew smell that was very off-putting. Some out of the way surfaces were clearly dusty indicating a modest level of neglect. These are all small things. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't what I'd consider the expected level of condition for the hotel and the image it projects. Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives. As a whole, the room feel slightly below our expectations and didn't impart a sense of premium experience we've become accustomed to in Tokyo.
Dormy Shibuya is the perfect mixed bag, but glass half full. Staring with the good stuff — Location is fantastic. You're just on the edge of Shibuya bougie shopping district with every niche flagship store just steps away. If you came to Tokyo to shop hype brands, this is the place. Also, it's one of the few hotels in this price bracket that offer a sauna/onsen to guests. The onsen itself is on the small side, and can suitably fit 4 adults without getting weird. But it was clean, well maintained, and did the trick. If having onsen access is a priority for your Tokyo stay, Dormy is the best choice in this price bracket. Another plus — The breakfast buffet was surprisingly excellent. The kitchen staff make perfect, fluffy omelettes and French toast to order. The traditional Japanese breakfast assortments were good quality and flavorful. Overall found myself very satisfied by the breakfast and stuffed myself silly.
