Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeSome areas especially the onsen could be upgraded without losing the old style.
Authentic old school ryokan. It’s like going back in time. I think it’s good cause you get to experience the past atmosphere.

CanadaOnsen public bath.
Convenient location and on waterfront property, perfect spot to watch the nightly fireworks. One block to the bus station. Personable staff, who personally and enthusiastically handed a pair of extra large slippers for my husband. We love taking the public buses to Mt. Usu and Toya train station.

SingaporeThe hotel is easily the most dated one in the lake area. There are new properties around. The room is of good size but it looked time had stood still. Our room became hot and stuffy in the middle of the night as the air conditioner was old model.
The lake view and it stands just in front of the ferry cruise centre. Staff at the reception n dining halls spoke little English but they were smiling and helpful.

There is an outdoor onsen. The onsen pool can be heated to your preference. The view from the room is excellent. Breakfast is served at separate tables, not a buffet.

SingaporeThe old facilities, which makes the place seems like frozen in time. There is a toilet in my room, just lacking of bathing room, which you have to go to level 1 common bathroom like the typical onsen in Japan.
Other than the old facilities and lack of common bathroom I think I had quite a pleasant stay. The food is the main reason which I stay here after reading the review and I wasn't disappointed, the food is delicious.

AustraliaVery dated, with seemingly no refurb done ever. Looks just like I imagine it did in the 1970s. The sauna in the men’s onsen wasn’t working, and looked like it hadn’t in a long time. No coffee in the room.
Great location right on the lake. Convenience stores and coffee shops nearby. Check-in was detailed and handled very well. The breakfasts were good - the dinners were great.

BulgariaThe food was not amazing. The raw fish looked very old and didn't taste very good. The wasabi was also somehow different. We decided to include half board so we dont waste time looking for where we should go to eat but if this is not a problem for you might better get it withoit food. Other than that the amount of food was more than enough. The room is maybe big but 80% of it is tatami. So the space for your luggage is very limited. Felt like there is not enough space.
The staff is polite and responsive. The location of the hotel is amazing (especially when travelling without a car). The onsens were clean (unlike the images I saw) and we enjoyed them. We managed to watch the fireworks both night. The boats doing it are starting from this hotel and then going to the most right hotels. If you go infront of the hotel you can see the whole show clearly, from the room you can probably see 85% of it if you are on a higher floor.
