Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumRoom was a bit small and we never saw the cats or the dog unfortunately...
Nice room, nice common areas, nice communal shower. Futons were quite thick and therefore comfortable.

CanadaI wish I could have seen the cats more.
The room was large enough to fit an extra bed. It had a patio attached with a table and chairs. The owners were very nice and picked us up from the station. The shower rooms were great with fresh towels provided every day.

United KingdomI knew from the moment I saw this property on booking that it was going to be a magical experience. The place is not too far from the main station (10min drives more or less) but it's definitely not in a touristy area, it's actually the most authentic neighborhood I've seen in Japan so far. And don't worry about getting there, because the owner will pick up up from the station! The house is an annex to the owners' own home, so you can feel the care they put into it and all the little details they added to make you feel at home. I had the Japanese-style room and got a fantastic night of sleep on my futon! However, even better than that, there are two highlights that made sure I'll treasure this experience forever. First, the owner gave me two maps (very precise, handmade) of the area to reach the few business close to the property (a HUGE supermarket, a 7Eleven, a sushi restaurant and a café). I went to the sushi restaurant for dinner, one of the best meals of my life (£14 for A LOT of excellent sushi and a fish soup). I also went to the café for breakfast (you can buy a voucher from the host, bring cash, it's about £3) and choose one of their menus. You'll need a translator app if you don't speak Japanese, but the ladies from the café were a joy to be around and made me a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. The second highlight was the adorable pets! If you're comfortable with it, you can meet the cats and the star of the place, Lily, the softest and sweetest Shiba I've ever met! Getting kisses from Lily made my day. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality, I will always recommend this place to other travellers!

MalaysiaNothing. Had a very good stay.
To be honest, it feel like stay at your long distance aunt's house in Gifu. Everything was clean and well organized. "Aunty" took the effort to wakes up early and bit us goodbye at 430am; really heart warming. Since she speaks mandarin so communication part no problem at all. Even though host have a cat and a dog; they are well behaved and does not cause any discomfort.

FranceMaybe rent a car or a bike, it can help if you want to see many things in the area !
The guest house is really good and the personnel is really nice ! They even helped us dealing with our luggage and offer to get us to the train station by car. And they even helped us with the local Post company (which is nearby). The room was clean, we had everything we needed. You will be in the suburbs of the city, but it's nice to walk across bridges and farm fields.

United StatesWe planned on visiting Seki and didn't realize how far it was away from the train stations, but that is entirely our fault, not theirs.
The owners were friendly and extremely helpful, providing a map and directions for the area, picked us up and dropped us off from the JR Station, and provided everything we needed and more for our stay.

Convenient for those with cars looking to experience some local hospitality in a quiet neighbourhood. There is free parking for small cars, bigger car might have trouble parking. The host, Hiro was very friendly and accommodating. I wish i had more time there, especially to play with his dog, Lily!

FinlandWe were touched by the way Hiro and his wife were running this really nice and cosy guesthouse. We needed a place to stay in Gifu during our roundtrip in Japan and we picked this because of a sympathetic photo of a dog and a neat looking pictures of the accommodation. But it was much nicer than we could have anticipated: the guesthouse was perfect for our needs and we were picked up from station and taken to the station, too. We walked to the Gifu castle, 5 kilometres through neighbourhoods, which we really liked, and the ropeway took us up to see the Gifu-Nagoya sea of light. A great experience altogether.

United StatesThere’s really nothing I can complain about. It was a wonderful stay!
The husband and wife of the property live next door and were very kind and attentive to our needs. We were running late to see the Ukai show so that helped us with a speedy check in process. We have been on a motorcycle road trip and I can’t say how well we slept at this property. And they have a lovely dog that entertained us too. We will definitely be staying here again on our future road trips. I highly recommend staying here. Rooms are clean, showers are great, and great company. They have motorcycle parking too!

United KingdomNothing, the owners were friendly, kind and great at communicating and offering advice.
Though the guesthouse was not that close to the train stations, Hiro-san very kindly offered to pick me up. This was very helpful as I had limited time to explore the city. In addition, I was able to rent a bike from the guesthouse at a bargain to get around town and to key tourist attractions. Clear instructions were dotted around the property to get the best out of the stay. Hiro-san also dropped me off at the station very early the next morning. Very grateful to have started my holiday in Gifu with such excellent hosts.

AustraliaHosts are friendly, warm, accomodating and attentive. Very clean and homely. Lively pets around, which was a welcomed change :) A 30 min walk from Gifu JR, hosts happily dropped us to the station at checkout. I believe you can organise pick up and drop off with the host. Regardless, a 30 min walk on flat ground is completely possible and should not deter anyone. However there is a local line which is 13 min walk from the house.

United KingdomFyi please be respectful if you stay there. We were in the downstairs room (really nice) but other guests ignored the rules about using the communal area late at night/very early in the morning which woke us up. Please use the shower on the left at night/early because it can be heard easily in the downstairs bedroom.
Lovely stay. Impeccably clean!! Very friendly and helpful hosts. Super cheap bike rental. Great breakfast deal with the cafe. We liked walking around that area, really friendly locals. We had a really great stay! Fyi if you want to watch the fishing with the birds, you can cycle to it quite easily. When facing up river, if you go to the right hand side and walk down the pebble beach to the shore, you get an amazing view!!
