Only a customer who has booked through Booking.com and stayed at the property in question can write a review. This lets us know that our reviews come from real guests, like you. Who better to tell others about the free breakfast, friendly staff, or quiet room than someone who’s stayed at the property before?
We want you to share your story, both the good and the bad. All we ask is that you follow a few simple guidelines.
We believe review contributions and property responses will highlight a wide range of opinion and experiences, which are critical in helping guests make well-informed decisions about where to stay.
Contributions to Booking.com are a reflection of the dedication of our guests and properties, and are treated with the utmost respect.
Whether negative or positive, we'll post every comment in full, as quickly as possible, after being moderated to comply with Booking.com guidelines. We'll also provide transparency over the status of submitted content.
Once a review has been submitted, you can modify it by contacting Booking.com customer service.
We will use the same guidelines and standards for all user-generated content as well as the property replies to that content.
We will allow the contributions to speak for themselves, and we won’t be the judge of reality. Booking.com’s role is that of a distributor of feedback from both guest and property.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing. There’s plenty of storage but could be a bit more hanging space or a clothes dryer. It’s about a half hour bus ride from Kyoto station but the bears are easy to use. It’s worth getting all day passes when you arrive. They are available from the station visitor information desk.
Beautifully presented Japanese style townhouse. Immaculately clean and with everything you need. Having bikes to ride around the neighbourhood and nearby temples was fun. Perfect for a family.

GermanyHanamiya is located in a typical Japanese little street far away from any hotels. You feel immediately like home. In Kyoto everybody goes by bike, this is why you get free bikes from the guesthouse. You are so close to the golden temple and the Zen Garden Temple! We did two lovely bike tours to the places Fiona recommended us to go. Everything was very clean and even in November we did not feel cold at night as the heating worked perfectly.

Very kind, welcoming and helpful owners. Gave us lots of info about the area, and were always only a quick phone call away. The house is a lovely Japanese house, with very comfortable futons, gorgeous dividing rooms screens and tatami floor mats. Quiet non tourist location, with a short walk to the bus stop. We would definitely recommend it!

We loved staying in this beautiful guesthouse with kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom all for our selves. Everything we needed was available. Our super friendly host provided us with good advise. The guesthouse is located in a quite neighbourhood. Although not centrally located, we could easily go everywhere by bike (available in the guesthouse)

NetherlandsThere is really nothing i could improve to have a better stay...
Jim and Fiona are wonderful hosts that go extremely out of their way to make you feel at home and help you around in Kyoto. The guesthouse is situated around the corner from the golden temple in a more residential area than downtown kyoto which is so wonderful to get a real, authentic feel of Kyoto. I am definitely staying here again on my next trip!
