Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWi-fi slow in the evening.
We stayed in a twin room with bathroom. Room was comfortable and clean with a small balcony. Quiet despite being on the main road. Short walk from the station and bus stops with Family Mart across the street.

GermanyMy room (traditional Japanese style) had no curtains, so it can be very light in the morning. A note to visitors - the hiking area of Nikko is ~1hr away from the station by bus. There are good regular bus services, and more hotels within the park in the onsen town on the shore of the lake. I picked this hotel because it had good access to the station and I wasn't sure how the bus services would be. But next time for hiking I would consider staying within the national park instead :)
Great hotel for visits to Nikko. Staff were helpful, room (private with bathroom, no shower) was good. There are enough shared facilities (showers, onsen, laundry machines) that I never had to wait to use these services. Really convenient location, 5min from main station.

CanadaThe walls are a bit thin but it is to be expected. The wifi wasn't the best but it still worked
I was given my own little room and the bed was comfortable. I found it quite practical that they had locker boxes in front of the hotel. Plus the staff were really friendly!

PolandOn Monday, our breakfast was good, but consisted partially of the weekend leftovers. It's not a big deal, but compared to the rest of excellent parts, was a bit lower in quality.
Super nice staff, comfy rooms, good value. And onsen ❤️ and unlimited breakfast

Czech RepublicWe had a top floor room with a beautiful view of the mountains. The room was clean and comfortable, private bathroom. We paid extra for breakfast, it wasn't rich but it was enough. There is a private onsen, they don't allow tattoos, they are divided into male and female but if there is no one there, maybe it's not a problem. Walking distance from Nikko station, the accommodation is on the "main street", so you can walk all the restaurants and shops from the bottom up towards the mountains. I recommend a trip to Edo Wonderland and Toshogu temple and walk up along the river. Nikko is a beautiful destination and I would like to come back here again and for a longer stay. I would choose this accommodation again.

Great onsen, great location, very caring staff. They mistakenly woke us up early, and apologised by making us breakfast. Truly wonderful staff. Have stayed here over 5 times across my 6 years living in Japan, most consistent hotel!

AustraliaAll is well; perhaps something to hang towels in the bathroom. Washing machine costs 300 yen per load extra for dryer and if you wish to store your luggage after checking out it'll cost 100 yen per locker. we needed 2 locker each, one for our backpack one for our suitcase.
It's a great option for Nikko, close to the station- Tobu Nikko station. Our room has a little balcony which we really love. The bathhouse downstairs is a really nice bonus. During our stay I didn't see anyone else using it, had the whole bathhouse to myself.

United KingdomWe decided not to get the breakfast as for 1000¥ per person it's a bit steep when there are other options available nearby (i.e., FamilyMart is just opposite). Nikko is a tourist destination, so brace yourself for the prices! The washing machine would have been great IF there was detergent in the machine as per the signs. We also witness the staff ignore some customers, just closed the door to their office and then proceeded to ignore their calls for some attention - We don't know what was being said but that was a bit sad to see. Lastly, the use of the showers is weird, 3h in the morning and 5h in the evening... hopefully you won't need to shower between 9:30 am and 4 pm!
The location is very good! It has its own public bath (no tattoos allowed). The room was ok, very tight for 2 people with more than a small bag for luggage. Nikko itself is definitely worth visiting, so for a night away from Tokyo, this is a good place.

CanadaWe reserved a Japanese-style room. My young grandson, who enjoys camping, loved it (his favourite hotel for both room and food), but I found the space very cramped--tent-camping without the tent. No bedside light, and if there was a flashlight, I didn't find it.
Excellent breakfast catering to both Japanese and Western tastes. If you're going to be there on the weekend, order breakfast when you book because breakfast tickets sell out. Futons in bedroom very comfortable, ensuite toilet greatly appreciated, and two private showers on the corridor. Very quiet but convenient location set back from the main street with a Family Mart opposite. Charming tourist town but not overrrun by tourists.

SingaporeThe only downside is that other users may leave their dirty socks/shoes in the shared corridor, causing the entire area to stink up. Ventilation is weak, but a separate, smaller ventilation unit has also been installed in the individual rooms.
Despite being branded as a capsule hotel/shared room dormitory, partitions have been installed, essentially making it a private bunkbed room. TV and headphones provided by the bed, walkway in the room is wide enough for your luggage, bed was comfortable and the room was cozy. Shower and other facilities was good and clean. Location is splendid, less than 3 minute walk from restaurants, main bus stop, and train station. Recommended stay and will return in the future.

PortugalThe doors make noise opening and locking so inevitably other guests will make some noise. Still, I had no trouble sleeping
Very close walking distances from Tobu Nikko station. It's a capsule hotel, but you have your own room for added privacy and space. The facilities looked clean. The onsen was good. There is a family mart right in front of it, and a supermarket close by in the back. The breakfast was good with many options to choose from.

United StatesRoom was a bit small to hold 2 people with our carry on luggage, breakfast was offered only during a short period in the morning and needed to be reserved. WiFi kind of goes on and off erratically
Great location by tobu-nikko station and check in is open just long enough for you to rush from the last limited express train from asakusa, clean, nice mountain view, private shower, coin lockers are right outside
