FranceA rather strange hotel located on one of the floors of a building. At the entrance there were some odd attractions, and the 'hotel' itself is on the third floor. The rooms are not very new, with a worn carpet. Breakfast was disappointing, and there was no hot water in the rooms.
The hotel manager does an excellent job. I am very grateful, thank you to her.

United StatesI didn’t like not having a choice for a western breakfast. I tried the Japanese one the first day but not to my test. It’s such an upscale place it’s surprising I couldn’t get a couple of eggs. I ended eating at Tullys for a small egg sandwich
A beautiful suite and lovely boutique feel. The location couldn’t be better in Gion district. The bathroom was awesome and bed excellent. Unexpectedly there was a separate room to meditate and an outdoor rock garden just for the room. I used this location as a base and did daily trips to Nara and Hiroshima.

Reading all the reviews, I was wondering but I could tell from the pictures that the ambience was very lovely and it didn't disappoint. We loved our private hot bath. The breakfast was delicious and so Japanese - how can you complain about it- it was everything that Japan is about. We loved eating it in our tatami room. Also, the size of the room was very generous compare to all the places we stayed in! This was the biggest room. So what it had a few stains on the carpet. Also the location was excellent - right next to Gion and buz but the hotel was quiet. So overall we stayed in many places in Japan, and we loved this one the most.

United KingdomWe initially were hesitant to book due to the mixed reviews but are SO happy we did! The location could not be better, you are literally on the Main Street in Gion with so much on your door step. The room was massive, the bed was so comfy, the tower and tub were great. There are lots of toiletries included in the room and a complimentary fridge full of drinks. I agree that some features were a little outdated and yes, there are some stains on the carpet in the room but this is minimal compared to everything else it offers. If you are a traveler who is used to luxury and relying on concierge to make a lot of your reservations and making recommendations you might struggle a bit. For the price we paid I thought this hotel was amazing value and are so happy we stayedf!

The location was amazing! We had ample space in our 100sqm room with a mix of traditional and western bedding for our family with teenage children. We had a room with a wooden Japanese bath and after a huge walking day, nothing was better than getting into the wooden bath to soak.

The hotel was a great location. Staff was very helpful with everything we needed, including finding cars to bring us to the train station w/our luggage. The breakfast was brought to our room and was a wonderful example of a Japanese breakfast. It was quiet and comfortable.
