Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe beds were very hard but this does seem to be a common theme across Japan.
We love this part of Kyoto, not too far from the station or the attractions, our normal hotel was being refurbished so we stayed here and had a great time, the staff were all wonderful and the room was a good size. There was a 7/11 right outside and the train station to Gion was a 5 min walk.

United StatesIt would be nice if the hotel had some snacks to buy as when you return back to the hotel after a very long day out it would be nice to have some small snacks to grab before you go to the room. One small suggestion is having some hooks on the wall to place a hat, umbrella or purse instead of the floor
This hotel is close by the 7/11,bus route and JR train. The hotel is nothing fancy but fit our every need

United StatesBeing central to Kyoto, the rooms will be a bit on the smaller size relative to if you went a bit further out. However, this is a trade off in personal preference as the price of this hotel is very good and similar to that of hotels further out. For example, if you value a public bath and larger rooms, Umekoji may offer hotels that meet those expectations more. But if you want to be 15 minutes away from all the famous temples while having streamlined access to Ta Q Bin to prepare you for your next move, here is the way to go.
Amazing value for the price. If you are looking for an affordable business hotel where the services and amenities are the focus, you will be more than happy. There is a complementary drinks machine that we made use of every night. The location is quite central as you'll be able to access all the popular tourist attractions easily by bus stations close by.

Lovely room, comfortable bed, great shower, fast wi-fi, use of washing machines/dryers. There is an amazing common room for guests use with tables & chairs microwave and vending machines with a good selection of hot & cold drinks free of charge! We bought some lovely meals from the 7eleven right opposite the hotel and heated them for our evening meals, it made it a very economic stay though the little Nepalese restaurant across the road was good also. The staff were so polite and accommodating with every request. Such a lovely hotel, I would 100% recommend it 😊 Thank you for a wonderful stay.

ItalyWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is fantastic — some attractions are within walking distance, and for others, there are metro, train, and bus stops very close by, making it super easy to get around. The staff were always friendly and helpful. You can even leave your luggage before check-in, which was very convenient for us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed. There’s also a very affordable laundry service, plus a space with a microwave, various drinks, and free coffee — such a nice touch! You can even enjoy your meal there. Highly recommended, we would definitely stay here again!

United StatesThey are well organized. I can't think of anything negative except the coffee could have been a bit better, but you can't complain about free. And we would have Would loved an earlier check-in and later checkout.
The reviews are spot on. We really liked this hotel. While not huge, our room was larger than the previous ones we had in Japan. And faced East so we had a view of the River, the train station we arrived at and a partial view of Kiyomizu-dera, the most iconic temple in Kyoto. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, bath products exquisite, the amenities plentiful, including the free water, coffee, tea, and other beverages offered free of charge downstairs. The staff were very helpful. And they had an elevator. There was a 7-11 across the street, which was terrific because we got out early and a lot of restaurants didn't open until 11. The egg sandwiches are as good as people say. The location can't be beat. We got off our train from Osaka and it was about a 5 minute walk across the bridge. Bus 206 was back across the bridge and not far from the train station. It went to a lot of places. Including the famous temple above, or all the way to Gion and other areas. Kyoto station is a bit longer of a walk, but it was 100 degrees so we opted for Uber. Didi is better, but we couldn't get the app to work. From there you can get a bus or train anywhere. I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful, quiet area in a massive busy city.

New ZealandThe location was great, a short walk to stations, was directly across from a 7/11, was clean and quiet. Our kids loved the drink station and it was nice coming back to have a hot drink at the end of the day. This was our favourite accommodation on our trip. The staff were so friendly and helpful.

IcelandThe only downside is that there are only two washing machines. In the evenings, people often line up and even stand next to the machines waiting for their turn. Luckily, there are self-service laundromats just a few meters away from the hotel, so it’s not a big problem.
The hotel was very comfortable and well-designed, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a huge plus in the summer heat. I also really appreciated the lounge/hall area, it’s a great space to relax, enjoy the variety of drinks available, and even bring meals from convenience stores or takeaways. The location is also good: Kyoto Station is about a 15-minute walk, and the famous geisha district (Gion) is about a 25-minute walk away.
